I never manage to plan that far ahead rolleyes.gif I'd still like to try and sort it out as a 2 week thing and go for a play in the Alps but now sure if others are up for that idea, (mainly due to the crap pound).

Steve, I've still got an MT08 T-Shirt to give you.

Cheers Chris, will collect it from you at next g2g. The other thing I wanted to ask is what was that travel bag thingy you and Tony used that looked like a big duffel bag and where did you get it from?

Would love to do the Alps again this year but can't afford time and money to do German g2g, RTT and Alps etc. Also, like lots of others, not sure how this year will pan out huh.gif

Ortlieb. Most decent camping places sell them. In hindsight I should have bought a slightly wider but shorter one, can't remember what size mine is though, somewhere in teh region of 50 litres I think.

i'm really sorry Hanno but i have to drop out sad.gif
main reason is the exchange rate, it adds an extra 50% to the cost dry.gif

Also keep an eye on Lidl (or was it Aldi?) as many did last year - tough yellow PVC rolltops, welded seams, about 42 litres and cheaper than Ortlieb.

Sorry, not this year. With the France trip and the 2 weeks family holiday it dont leave enough annual leave or wifey good will. Should still be able to get out for a few weekenders though.

Hmm, with Tony and Danny out of it I must admit I'm starting to think maybe not either. It is going to be a lot more expensive than originally planned due to the crap pound sad.gif

Not to be a wet blanket, and no offence to the organisers, but if you want to be picky, there are arguably more scenic areas. They're good people over there, though, so it depends what you want out of the trip.

Just checked on the German TDM site and there are still 2 hostel rooms (8 beds) being held in the name of "die Englaender". So it would be only fair to firm up go/nogo plans asap and tell Hanno.

PS They're expecting a Polish contingent too. I see the old Carpe site had a Polish forum - presumably in the days of Artur Kowalski among others? Anybody kept contact with them?

Hey folks,

the costs are rising, I know. Maybe you should join the Euro zone *gg*.
We need to know if you are able to come in early march, so think about a few weeks and let me know the decision.
We would understand that reasons very well. No problem.

Hanno, sorry but I am definatly not going to come to the Megatref this year. I really enjoyed last year and was planning on comming but a combination of the weak pound and a possible change of job means I really can't justify it this year. Keep us posted for 2010 and I'll hopefully make that one.

ok, Chris - thx for the note.
Hope to see you next year at the Megatreff in Dahn (Rheinland-Pfalz). We have already booked the Youth Hostel in Dahn for the Megatreff 2010.
Dahn is near my and Karlos Place, Steve you remember.
And near the french border to the Vosges Mountains.

Hi Hanno, thanks for this info, I realise I should have looked back at the early postings to find it! It would indeed be great to ride with you guys again and Karlo also suggested that in a recent email. I will PM you in the next few days and perhaps we can firm up arrangements. Cheers for now, Steve.
