...could it be an idea filling it with Coke Light and Mentos, put the cap back on, shake it a few times and run ? rotflmmfao.gif

Genius. I was just thinking I should have suggested he give it a gentle tap with a sledge hammer but coke and menthos has got a much better mess capability biggrin.gif

Nope, just fully extend, wrap some tape at the base to keep it extended, fill and close. The only thing I would be careful of is make sure the fork IS totally fully as otherwise you might be compressing/mashing fork internals rather than popping the seal. I had one fork dismantled so used those inards to mark off where the internals were to make sure this didnt happen. With the fork fulll there is obviously next to no movement before the seal pops which is how you want it.

Its all on the video, which I might post up on pootube for you to all larf at. Set up an account but then Wicky dragged me off to Paignton Boike Noight.

Already purchased the Popcorn, Nachos and Pepsi Dappers, so when is the Premiere feature taking place on Pootube?

I finished my job right now ! 2 seals changed in like 20 minutes !

I recorded with my photocamera, but the angle wasn't optimal and light was from behind, so I don't think I'd bother publishing it. Just a lot of grunting and noise as I tried to jack out the last one, didn't come out until I tapped my foot on the fork tube rolleyes.gif

But it really worked a treat !
I added a posting in the "Fork seals" - thread in Knowledge base.

For youtube purposes I still think someone should try the sledgehammer or coke and menthos methods biggrin.gif

Well Done Dappers and Bjorge it's a great piece of joint work and deserves a place in the hallowed 'Hall of Knowledge' and the video and editing is not too shabby either! Am I right in thinking that that chappy doing the voice over is non other than the well known thespian John Pertwee star of Wurzel Gummage? clapping.gif

Hmm where do you get menthos from? Don't have enough forks to do the ole domino style thing they did.

Can get Metho's from our local park. How many you want?

Heat around the seal area with a hairdryer/hot air gun and it'll come out easier.

Did the seal exchange twice using this method, works well and is quicker than the usual fork leg disassembly.

Just be carefull with the oil !

I've also used this on 2 bikes and it is now my preferred method - pals faces are a hoot (when they see it work).
