Has everyone agreed on an area and time (or a month at least)?

Not yet, is the answer. I agree the time and location do need to be firmed up soonish, but there is a mix of factors to consider. There's been quite a bit of debate, based on Carpe/French/German/Swiss participation so far. Italy has just come on board and Greece and Netherlands will hopefully join in soon. Initial discusssions have hovered around SE France, SW Germany, Switxzerland as likely the most central options to be as fair as possible, and the Italians (I believe) are not averse to that, but needs to be discussed. Still dealing with type and likely capacity of accommodation - e.g talk of maybe booking a whole hostel with camping also nearby? Needs to be checked, though. Still no decision on month - discussion on whether or not should be concerned about local G2G's. So it's all simmering atm Numbers could be decent - 200 or more, and Sam has just spoken of 316 riders at the Italian's own national meet.... blink.gif

Anyway, I'm out of here - just picked up on your question while checking loose ends of mail etc. Over again to Chris and Tony..

Hi Pict,

That was in 2003 earning the Guiness World Record and to be precise it was 206 motorcycles (316 participants). Latest events have been less crowded drinks.gif

I'm really quite interested in this 2011 event too - as I intend to visit Europe - especially Hungary and Sweden in the next few years - what better than to meet up with you guys too in the western parts.

Just some thoughts when choosing a site;

Campsite or similar would be great so there is a common area to meet, mingle, look at bikes (and point and laugh smile.gif ). If the camping also has cabins and there is a hotel nearby i think most accommodation wishes would be met.

Got the wife persuaded to do a motorcycle holiday in 2011. I guess she hopes i have sold the bike by then.

the latest dates to be suggested are the week of 30th May to 3rd June
this uses Bank holiday dates for a number of countrys so less time off work
and co-insides with the meets from the other country, most of the euro groups hold theirs a month or so before the traditional RTT date.

the location is suggested as : Schwarzald / Vosges / Alsace - basically the French/German border just above Switzerland (from Southern UK its one hard day by motorway, or 2days via backroads)

its expected there will be a choice of accomodation, camping, hostel, B&B, bunkrooms etc depending on location and numbers

so......now for numbers, looks like 250+ from France, Germany & Italy

based on the loose information i've just provided, who would be seriously interested in attending?
& would you prefer to camp, B&B or hostel style accomodation

once i report back with the expected numbers (as the other forums are doing) we can look at firming up locations wink.gif

That'll be the Pfingsten Weekend then?

Damn it, that is the same weekend as the Annual Thunderace G2G in Germany.

I'll have to do both then!

Count me in, B+B or 5* hotel, which ever is the most expensive!

I want to avoid dragging a tent along, so anything with a bed in it for me.

Last time I was in black forest I stayed at a hotel that was "Tourenfahrer Partner"
This is the Hotel i stayed at. Nice place, but maybe too small for this event?
I guess some native Germans can decipher this page TOURENFAHRER hotels these hotels should be 'biker friendly'.

The only other hotel i know in that area is Schwarzwaldhotel Möhringer GmbH in Bonndorf. Very nice hotel, but quite expensive. It has conference facilities and dinner service for quite large groups. I usually stay here when i visit a supplier in this town. Wellness center and pool there. A massage after riding a whole day might be nice?

Feldberg is a ski resort with some quite large hotels. Maybe some of them have good summer prices? Feldberger Hof has both apartments and rooms, but I don't know much about this place.

Well, Feldberg is not only a skiing resort, but as well a summer vacation region. The rates for high season in summer are about the same as in winter.

As for "Feldberger Hof", the double room comes at about 45GBP... per person, per night! This is not a preferable rate, right?
The appartements are more reasonably priced, though.
