You'll have to do something about you Avatar. It's making me think I've "had enough" and I'm not halfway through my quota yet!!!!!!

Newbie saying Hello here.
Steve 44, from Sunny Perthshire in central Scotland.
Aquired my TDM850 a few weeks ago after a 5 year layoff from biking.
Ive always gone for the sports type, zzr, gsxr and last one being a ZX-6R which I sold in 2004.
I liked the TDM years ago but i never got around to trying one so it seemed a great idea as my re-introduction into the pleasure biking arena.
So, here I am. ( and loving it )

I've been riding for 20 years since I was 17. Before the TDM I had a XJ900F for about 12 years that I used for year-round commuting and for volunteer work I do as Triathlon Referee and Cycle Race Escort (used to race bicycles but legs got a bit too ropey).
Last year I fancied a European trip and wanted something more modern, comfy, quick, economical . . . , so I bought the TDM complete with luggage. Added a TomTom and headed off to Romania with 3 mates. This year we went to Croatia. Next year maybe Estonia?
Lucky enough to live in North Yorkshire just off the (in)famous Helmsley TT road.

My name is Max and I am planning on acquiring a TDM in the not too distant future. I have admired this bike for many years and I am finding this forum to be a very useful resource. Living in Sydney I currently own a Honda CB1300 and an exotic 450 enduro. I have previously owned a BMW R1100GS and a string of other bikes. I have come to believe that the TDM is the bike that offers the best fit for my current needs and I am impressed by the exploits of those such as masterbrewer who have demonstrated the backroad (and beyond ) potential of the TDM. I look forward to the day when I can post pictures of my new bike.

Just signed up today and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Dave, 30 from Berkshire (not the posh part!!)
Recently had to sell my Blackbird to raise some money for sensible adult type things and bought a 2001 TDM on ebay which has turned out to be a great bike and a real bargain

Great forum you have going here.... keep up the good work!

Matt aged 40. Live near Coventry. Had a Diversion 600, 900, Fazer 1000, FJR 1300 and now a '58' TDM in Silver.
Have done the HID upgrade and have original Yamaha panniers on. Well the FJR was silver and the panniers weren't
fitted when I wrote it off so a small bonus. Really enjoying the TDM and done over a 1000 miles over 2 weekends.
Strange having a twin and the engine braking has caught me out a few times but thats all part of the learning curve.
Find the site really informative and spend many hours trawling it for info. Hope to get to a G2G some time and put faces to names
Cheers

With the exception of throttling an old TS125 for a summer back in 1984 and dropping a mates 250 Superdream on my leg around the same time this is my first foray into bike ownership. With it being my 40th year my darling wife got me my DAS for my birthday and I passed in March this year.
Being a tall chap I needed a bike that wouldn't make me look like I was riding a mini moto and the TDM has always caught my eye. So armed with the cash from the sale of my mountain bike (and anything else I could Ebay) I bought a 1997 TDM 850 in silver/yellow last week.
So far so brilliant! Being a 12 year old bike she unfortunately isn't a shining example but I'm hoping that with a bit of graft and some advice from you guys I can make her presentable.
I'm in Glasgow and hope to chat with you all soon.
ps The forum is excellent and a credit to you all, keep up the good work.
