Hi fellas

It only started yesterday but i turned the key, neutral ligt came on, pushed start button and nothing.

checked it was in neutral and put stand up, pushed start button again and still nothing.

Checked kill switch, wiggled stand, went through gears and back to neutral and still nothing.

By now i ain't best happy so in good old Moose fashion i try everything again with more brute force and low and behold she starts

So i try again several times and the only way she'll start is by pushing ya thumb so hard on the start button it hurts...

So i reckon i must have a bad contact on the button connection but how the hell can i sort it out?

Anyone else had the same problem?

Any help apreciated

Cheers

Moose

Not on a start button but had it on a high beam flash button on several bikes(including this one).
I just take it apart and clean the contacts with some 800 grit wet n dry then a spray with duck oil to keep it corrosion free.

I have had a similar thing

There is a point in the ignition switch where everything appears "on" and the engine turns over, but it will not start - I have even had error code 19 come up (sidestand switch)

Turn off and return the key making sure the key is fully turned clockwise and no problem.

Check the starting circuit cut-off relay & connections around.

BTW the WD40 is not really the best stuff to clean electrical contacts : oil remains on the surface, providing a very good electrical insulation. It only protect from moisture & corrosion.

Better use a specific electrical contact cleaner, that is without oil.

You probably have a chain of stores where you are similar to our 'Radio Shack' stores... (prob any television store)
What you want to ask for is a spray can of contact cleaner.
People used to use it to clean radio and television knobs. (The contacts, not the actual knobs).

You can try spraying into a crack with the switch still on (easier) before you open it up to spray the contacts.

To say that WD40 isn't the best thing to spray on electrical connections is one hell of an understatement. Major mistake IMO to do that.

Contact cleaner - available on web or at any electrical repair shop (Radio Shack, etc).
