The 2011 event isn't intended to be so track-focused of course (oops!): more like an RTT in style but hopefully with plenty of evening and incidental fun in an area with various choices.
One thing that's emerged is an intent to have better communication among the groups re. G2G's etc. anyway. International links are strengthening well already.

The idea was and is a good one - all-round enthusiasm indicates a potentially big gathering which has created something of a monster to manage informally, so after trying to go it alone through a combination of correspondence on the French TDM website and Skype ttelephone conversations (up to 7-ways!) it's come to the point of sending out an appeal to tourist agencies in the Black Forest and adjacent areas to see if they can help to coordinate things, hoping for a response by January 25th. That will help to finalise the best choice of venue to cater for various tastes, and allow a start to be made on planning the "meat of the meet" - in other words get down to making it a meeting worth travelling to.
There's been no "elitist thinking" in this - it just started out as a bunch of guys trying to represent the larger masses and reporting back as progress was made. But it's been difficult to keep it together and moving forward, and more general involvement will be needed though the brunt of the effort will have to come from TDMers local to the area - i.e. mainly the German- and French-based groups. Carpe needs to sit at the table as a regular voice in the discussions. In my position as described, and healthwise I've overstayed my time, and am certainly unlikely to be at the meeting as and when it happens, given the way my biking prospects are deteriorating. Typing left-handed is a pain, and I'm tired and forgetful as part of the condition. So I'm seeing myself moving out of the game though I'm still enthusiastic about the concept and hope it does actually happen, especially after all the energy that's already gone in. I'm not sure what will be required when the cards come in around January 25, but I hope there will be enough support from here (as there surely will be from the other countries) to discuss ideas and make it all come true. Again I'll say to anybody who's shy about language issues that the agreed language is English and the other countries' reps (France, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Greece) all speak it very well.
'Scuse the typos. See you.
Ian

Me...lost, when the satnav knows exactly where I am??
I really didn't intend my previous post to sound as pathetic as it does. There's a great feeling about the impromptu group at the centre of things, though there's a long way to go with not much time, and I've just been getting frustrated that I haven't the physical or mental energy and stamina to handle things as well as they deserve, so it would be be reassuring to know that one or more TDMers ( particularly people who will actually attend the meeting) will find time to represent Carpe in discussion, capture opinions votes & decisions and help maintain the links. I'm not trying to cop out but I do feel very uncomfortable these days and am frankly looking for a real Carpe presence. As I've said, UK input is low-key (but important), since naturally it will be people who are local to the meeting area who will have to shoulder the real work. Prepare yourselves for further activity......

Ignoring his obsesson with the rev limiter, and despite the crappy thin audio, those Akras do sound the biz.

I've been scrolling through the postings, and apologise if I've missed it, but are there any proposed dates yet or is that still to be agreed?
