OK! guys` .............. the joke are over ................... enough is enough dry.gif

We were fortunate for a small window of opportunity & a days digging to get out of Scotland and with the help of local knowledge & a greased palm, we made our escape from the land of horizontal blizzards

We were pleased to see the arrival of this banana.gif

Yesterday we had to travel from Junction 35 to junction 1 on the M6 Motorway for Iryna's grandmother's funeral at Kettering.

Bloody hell ohmy.gif ohmy.gif 6 weather seasons in one day & that was just while we were heading south. Believe it or not we had sun shining at the grave side.

All our travel plans are now being adjusted on the run depending on the weather, with the only proviso being, we have to be near Heathrow by our flight out on the 14th.

So far this morning the sun was out .... then heavy snow, now sunshine ago. huh.gif

Better stock up the provisions tongue.gif

We are planning to get at least halfway from Over Kellett to Windsor on Tuesday for a stop over Tuesday night, with the final night Wednesday being in Windsor.

I think there is a hint of better weather early next week blush.gif

Any improvement on the road conditions for Tuesday/Wednesday down south?

Iryna was keen to look around Oxford & the Midsomer Murder Trail area map, but I am worried that we wouldn't be able to get around much to make it worthwhile.

If that is the case we will stay here at Over Kellett an extra day and make a dash for Windsor on the M6 on Wednesday.

yesterday the whole of oxford was still a mixture of frozen snow and slushy ice
you can get thru no problem, the ringroad and major routes into the town are clear, but all pavements are still hard ice (dont know about the town centre tho)
we had another inch of snow last night which recovered the non-white bits and hasnt melted yet

Cheers Tony good.gif

Our flights don't leave until 22.00 Thursday so I was aiming to get the car back to Hertz Heathrow by say 17.00 to allow extra check-in time with the recent airline security developments.

Thursday's weather looks better @ max 3C for Windsor so I wouldn't expect any problems in getting from Windsor to Heathrow.

But Yeah!.... I think heading south on Tuesday is a good idea.

Wish us luck, especially considering the windscreen washer on the "fuck-ass" has broken.

With local knowledge, thanks Tony, we were able to slip south ahead of the snow storm & also have time for a quick lunch & look around Oxford on our way to Windsor. Roads were all good.

The next morning there was a blanket of snow on The Long Walk

before it cleared up & we managed the Midsomer Murder Trail without any "deaths" tongue.gif

The trip would not be complete without a visit here rolleyes.gif

To top off an absolutely "once in a 30 year" White Christmas/New Year MB Adventure tour, which had everything we could have wished for (sorry to the locals who have had to suffer the weather blush.gif), our drive to Heathrow from Windsor at 22.00 on Thursday was amazingly in fine, calm, clear weather, just as when we had arrived some 33 days earlier blink.gif
