Aye, it's all about building up yer confidence through doing the simple tasks and moving on to more difficult challenges. Don't think I'm ready fer tackling a scooby though !
I like to read as much as I can about any job I haven't attempted, and then ask loads of stupid questions smile.gif I gladly suffer the embarrassment if it means I've learnt summat, if you don't ask, you don't get to know. It's all good stuff !

already had a test run wink.gif its tax'd now too, the misses couldnt wait until 1st Feb rotflmmfao.gif
there is a small fuel leak from the carbs, i think its that dodgy float bowl gasket, the only spares i had were used so i've ordered some more....really should take my own advice and planned to replace em rolleyes.gif
its a bit fluffy under load, thats either the float bowl thing or the coils not providing a good enough sparc
will replace the HT leads on the 3VD coils and see if that cures it while i wait for the floatbowl gaskets
just the fork oil to sort out now..... dry.gif

been riding around on bigred for a few days
wasnt 100% happy with how she was running, thought it was maybe those coils
so new HT leads etc and OEM 3VD coils fitted and its better, but still not perfect
as i'm selling her as effectively a mechancially perfect bike my conscience felt the need to do something
so i took her down the local spanner monkeys for a dyno run for fuel/air readout
standard 3VD TDM produces 73.6 BHP, this is producing 82.4bhp at the rear wheel and is running lean (16ish, should be 13)
i've got spare jets(almost a pair of each size from standard up to 170....dunt ask) here so gonna do those today and take her down for another dyno on Tuesday
i'm not really that worried what BHP she produces as long as the fueling is sorted
be interesting to see what the figures are tho
will post the final graph up for people to see on Tues eve...

I know you've got the Laser pro stocks fitted but how did you manage to get all them geegees ? smile.gif

Have you got a K&N air filter ?

Be interesting to know what jets you end up fitting as I'm running same zorsts and just started on my head refurb swapppydoodaa.

Look forward to the dyno graphs.

Laser Pro Stocks with generic airfilter, not K&N
i'm running 140 MJ minkunis, going to 148MJ (DJs) which is 2-3sizes up
the tuning guys reckoned it would be more work for little if any gain to go with a hiflo airfilter like K&N as i'd have to up jet sizes again to 155ish (MJ DJs)
they've tuned TDMs before and reckon anything over a 150 MJ (dynojet) and you have problems with shape of needle, it doesnt taper enough
their experience also fits with the problems i had tuning my XTZ which runs open pipes and pod filters dry.gif

(note to my elf : dont ever try fitting pod filters again)

and anyway, i dont want to spend more money than i need to on better parts as its not going to increase the value of the bike

Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.

nope, diff engine which i've done nothing to

the tuned one of Gs produced significantly more power than this one and is currently awaiting resurrection....

i have a few engines here, as far as i can tell its the bottom of Gs engine that went due to oil ways being blocked with excess gasket goo
i've got enough good parts to rebuild an engine using the good tuned bits from Gs which should make a really nice engine wink.gif
