Schluchsee !!!!

in the Black Forest region of Germany. Official web site

It is proposed that it will be held on the Week beginning 29th May - 5th June 2011.

With the core days, Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday, for the main activities.

There will be representative groups from all over Europe, we are expecting 300 + and we are hoping to beat the world record.

There is plenty of amenities and the Tourist Board of the town is kean to help. We do / did have a broad idea of the types of events, which was given out to the various regions to see if they could accomodate us , but ......

What the organizing group needs to know is ...

are you still interested?

and what you would like to do on those core days and nights?

Think of this as a fresh start, what would you like to do?

To make this meeting Celebrate 20 years of the YAMAHA TDM

I'm definitely interested in attending this. The venue looks good smile.gif

With all the TDM's there it would be good to hold some TDM competitions ! Best of model, best paint jobby, best mechanical mods, best of the unwashed, highest mileage, etc, etc.

oops, already been mentioned. Good idea though smile.gif

EDIT: How about a multi-national big cream bun fight !

I am wondering who decides where the International G2G takes place?
Also, is there a forum of Carpe TDM equivallent clubs? Is Yamaha's marketing department behind this (and us in the UK)?

I am wondering who decides where the International G2G takes place?
the french guys started the idea and asked on each of the euro based forums for representatives to help out
the discussion area is on the French TDM forum http://www.ouestlekeum.com although to keep it manageable its a closed room

yes, theres a list of euro forums in the other languages area on carpe

Is Yamaha's marketing department behind this (and us in the UK)?
yamaha do not as a rule support/run any owners clubs
they have provided some freebies at previous years meets and they loaned a 900 at the meet on the year of launch
other than that its difficult.....i guess the best description would be they are aware of our existence lol

yammie UK only wants to deal with UK clubs/groups where the UK meet is in the UK, i guess its the same with other european arms of yamaha
but they do generally allow use of thier logos and such on owners groups t-shirts etc so theres no direct disapproval

What has been holding everything up has been the "Where and When".

If no one from the other sites have any strong objections, we are then in a postion to ask Yamaha, the press and Mr Kipling to promote or sponsor the event. You will never get any marketing manager to agree sponsorship unless there is a promise of a lot of people involved and it is worth their while.

They all want to know whats in it for me.

If there is enough of us who say yes, when the group collect all the yes's and they are greater than the record.

We will have the best "hook" to hang all the approaches for sponsorship on.

If we can say we are going to beat the record and Guiness are asked to varify it, the press, Yamaha, Hollands Pie's, Greggs and my plumber, will be interested in being part of it or at least consider it.

What is important, is that we get enough to say "YES " !

Because at the minute, it's just an idea.

Only You can make it happen.

Cheers, Ivan

Concerning Yamaha, I dont expect anything from them. We have all a Yamaha (not realy all, i know) and after we change for BMW. that's why the dont need to make any sponsoring. rolleyes.gif

Ivan i just checked this out for location, could'nt be better in my opinion, also it's pretty much on my route at the weekend as i was going to be overnighting in or near Freiburg.
Think i will try and get there if the weather aint to shite ( rain forecast) or maybe on the way back, no promises as my route is not set in stone but it would be nice to have a look.

Thanks Cliff, PM sent.

When this was mentioned I thought I would look it up on Google Earth, I already had a marker on it ?

By chance we went through it in 2007.

Check this video out from 5mins in till 7 mins, Pictures and video of the lake.

not much of the town on it but you get an idea of the location.

VIDEO

Cheers, Ivan

PS. at 8 mins you see a load of bikes out side a hotel. well its not !
We were looking for somewhare to stop for a break and a drink. We saw all these bikes and drove up to the hotel up this long drive. It was just someones house, these german bikers had rented for the weekend. They had got pissed up the night before and were doing doughnuts on the patio. !! One guy burnt his tyre right through !!! ohmy.gif

Gave us drinks and had a good chin wag.

German hospitality , Brilliant good.gif
