There is absolutely no need whatsoever to go through all the extra trouble you see in the above photos when you fit a "Tigerscreen"

As I've stated several times before, I've been riding with this screen for almost 18 months now & there is exactly ZERO cracking of the fairing or areas around the mounting screws.

John, the closest bloke to you is Gordon(Gordong) in Ravenshoe, QLD. Not sure how far that is from you. I have no idea what he thinks of my screen as I haven't heard a word since he purchased it. You could PM him.

Hi

I am also interested in one. Also ride a MKII and from Norway smile.gif

I have tried standard, low ang high screens. All noisy. Have the low on now and I think that might be the most noisy.
Frustrating..

Are you still doing these screens? As a 6'4" (1.93m) rider, I'm getting sick of getting blown about on my TDM.

@TDMtoraneko - I sent you a pm about a screen for a TDM 900, but the assistant is saying there is no sent messages so I don't know if it got to you. I'm still very keen to get one of these off you, hopefully before I go off touring!

Hi,

Just got a new Tiger screen last week but was too ill to try it.

Took a 350km ride yesterday - temperature at 8º C up to 15º C later in the day - from Windsor, up the Putty Rd to Broke and back down the Old Pacific Highway.
This screen was excellent.
Very little wind even at 120kph
Very little noise - I could hear the engine most of the time

Just got to get used to seeing it on the bike.

Thanks TDMtoraneko

Do you have a figure for postage to Ireland? The screens look pretty good.

fitted mine last night after a quick visit to Poldark (cheers fella - hope the cat recovers!)

fitting was relatively easy except i manage to pop through a couple of well nuts into the front of the bike and ended up taking half the front end apart just to get at them (no spares)

Not been a great distance with it yet but findings so far are that this makes a big difference to the bike, even with my Caberg flipped up, wind noise was reduced greatly and buffetting was more or less down to nothing. I actually found myself approaching bends faster than i would normally as my impression of speed was reduced so greatly. (honest officer laugh.gif )

will report back when i have done a few more miles but, so far, so good!

Got my screen today and have just unpacked it... IT'S ENORMOUS! (I'm a big lad) I'll bang it on the bike at the weekend and see it the mounting points can stand it! First impressions.... very nice bit of kit, and looking forward much more to blasting through France with my nutter mate now that I won't thrown about on the bike through my sightly oversize triumph jacket acting like a free sail.

Ok, I fitted it and immediately came up with a problem.... and the problem is me. I am a muppet of the first order and managed to get my size reading wrong despite doing them with a friend and a dress making tape measure and a surveying tape measure... so the screen was too tall. istupid.gif A visit to a local sign maker got 5 cm lopped off. (High impact acrylic is apparently easy to split so after recognising that I was a muppet, I decided to get someone who worked every day with acrylic to do it)

Screen now refitted and nicely proportioned, quality piece of kit.. so to the next problem! With the vastly reduced wind noise from the screen, I have now found a mechanical problem on my bike that I'd never been able to hear before... ranting.gif

Ok, more seriously.. first impressions are that the screen works superbly well. At least as well as the extra large GS screen I used to have fitted to my old BMW R1150GS. It's definitely quieter and I'm getting no buffeting except a very little around my arms. The idea of putting the screen in front of the old one works very well, with virtually no back pressure... certainly less than I've ever had on any bike I've owned with a decent sized screen. If like me, you prefer to ride with your visor partly open, you can do this. Also I forgot my ear plugs today and there's little wind noise in my (very noisy) Arai. The look of the screen in the flesh is better than it seems in the photos and suits the bike very well... definitely adds to the TDM's looks. On the move, the fairing creaks a bit, but seems to have no trouble coping with the extra screen size.. and I suspect that is partly why the screen extends below and outside the mounting points: to balance it up a bit.

On the down side: I followed the sizing instructions quite accurately, although I probably sat up too straight... and still managed to get it wrong. If you are going to get one of these, I would suggest you sit slightly slouched, or at least no higher than your normal position on the bike and use 10 and 20 paces rather than actual yards or meters so that the screen is slightly lower. I would also check with TDMToraneko that he thinks the size is actually right for your height before he makes and sends it too you.

Another thing is that the rubber washers that are around the screen screws are too soft. In putting it on and off twice, the outer ones are effectively destroyed. I'm going to look for some rubber grommets of the right size and which are a bit more rugged and fit them instead.

Overall I'd say that my first impressions are that Yamaha really missed a trick by only fitting a bikini screen to the TDM, and that if they'd offered an optional screen like this - even a smaller one - they'd have sold many more bikes. The bike makes much more sense with it fitted - it certainly makes it more comfortable and better looking. The only real problem I can see with the screen is those washers, rather than something a bit more durable. Certainly worth the pennies if you want a decent screen.

Right, I'm off to put some miles on my TDM, since the screen got here in time. I'll post up some piccies later.

(One further note: TDMToraneko was very helpful throughout, before and after I got the screen.)
