First appoligies to dapled, We all aimed to drop in and see you but we simply got the wrong juntion. Got home yesterday around 6.00pm but was just to nackered to post any thing. The milage was roughly 350 down, 850 back up and then 570 back down. The bike never missed a beat, not to bad for an old mk1. I've got a few photo's, not to good but I am sure the lads will have a lot more to follow. It was a great weekend and a great achievment by all and always nice to meet new friends.

Trebor got the trophy based on his mileage most closely matching that quoted by google maps.

Just been out and given the bike a good wash, both tyres well worn, rear to just below the wear indicator and the front just about on it.

Fuel cosumption was, as usual for a niner, excellent - 58.8 mpg for the trip

just about to go surfing for some tyre at the best price.

Just checked the bike over and all is good. It did not even use any oil, although it did have an appitite for petrol.
I recorded 1763 miles door to door. The bike was doing around 10 miles per litre on the way up and around 11 miles per litre back down.
( over £200 quid to bp)
The thing I do not understand is that on the way back down I went quite a lot faster and got better mpg.
If I do anything similar I am going to change the seat for a nice comfy plank of wood with cake on top.
In summary the trip went :- first 100 miles cold and dark. The next 250 miles were wet followed by around 100 miles of high winds.
Then we got to the great roads of Scotland the sun came out and the temperature rose a little and all was good.
I am already scratching my head for idea's for next years event, but it's a tough act to follow.
Thanks for all the great comments and really glad it went so well and every one is home safe and sound.

Firstly, congratulations to everyone hat completed the marathon. Well done guys, Mike would have been proud, I'm sure.

I have a suggestion for next year....

As Mike used to spend a fair bit of time in Germany, how about a trip to the ring?

I know Mike had done several hundred laps over the years. Mileage wouldn't be much different, accomodation is cheapish and the Euro Tunnel is quick and convenient, although slightly more expensive.
