Weather's looking good.
From Met Eireann:-
QUOTE
Friday, Saturday & Sunday : Mainly dry, settled weather will continue, with sunshine, but there is a possibility of some heavy, thundery showers breaking out. Becoming very warm, with temperatures in the mid 20s in many inland areas and possibly up to the high 20s in places over the weekend. Winds will be very light and variable, with daytime sea breezes near coasts, keeping temperatures a little lower. A few mist or fog patches may form at night.

The world is full of willing people, some willing to work, the rest willing to let them.

Rat bike no more. The Lovely Mrs TeDeum noted the remark by apw about the state of my bike and I was "advised" to clean it before Friday. I apologise to Chris G and Tony D for letting down the side but now you can see the paint in places although I did not polish anything. Surprised to find that the engine is grey.

Ivan - thats would have been a good suprise to meet you - shame. That sounds sore on the mouth, hope you get well soon.

Roll on friday...I'm just recovering from a bad cold so have not even washed my bike!

If the weather is anything like last weekend we are setup. I was in the Burren for the weekend and it was heaven on earth, even had a few swims in the sea which is the sort of rat-bike activity I would not normally indulge!

So gents - in response to my own post below. Looking at the proposed saturday run Saturday Route which is around 100miles I am hoping that this is far enough. I had planeed to get to scout the route beforehand but I never managed to get away so if this turns out to be too short we can always extend it as we go.

If you get to th ecamspsite before me, I plan to be there around 4pm, i have the booking under the name 'Alex for Carpe TDM' , there are 12 to 14 single tents booked in at €10/head/night which includes showers and they are fairly decent facilities. If there is any issue I booked it with a lady called Margaret (let's face it how many of them can there be in Mayo rotflmmfao.gif ).

Look forwrad to seeing you all then,
APW

I have been doing some homework and this is the proposal for the Ireland G2G...I was having trouble sorting a workable plan for Donegal so I proposing a Mayo destination. I have arranged a campsite in Westport which I have stayed on several times. It's one of the best sites I have used, it is family-oriented but I don't expect that we will be up roarin'n'shoutin all night!

Meet up friday in Westport June 25th at Campsite I have arranged camping fees of €10/head/night based on the fact that there will be primarily one-man tents but we get a group discount given that I expect 6 to 12 heads in all.
Saturday I have proposed a 100mile circuit with some amazing scenery - I will try to get down there beforehand to scout out the chocalate cake... Saturday Route

Westport town is a bit of a walk but it will help stretch the back out after the day on the bike...so we can go there for dinner and pints..there are lots of good restaurants in Westport and it's one of the nicest towns in Ireland with the possible exception of Dingle.

Sunday will be a long ride home for most so maybe go for a decent breakfast and on home from there.

Any comments, additional interest, questions, abuse welcome!!
Thanks
APW

That sounds good for the morning run.

How's about heading North in the afternoon?

Or maybe a Sunday morning run heading towards most folks' homes (S/E)?

I'd planned a (non R1) route for last year (The 850 one) but the inclemment weather stopped that.
I may be one of the furthest away & it's still only 5 hours at sensible speeds.

Strangely the 3 hourly Meteox forecast shows rain starting Sunday evening...

5 day / 3 hourly

Sorry to add this after all your planning Alex

See ya soon, Chris

How about we do this run and see what time we get back to Westport. If folks fancy then we can go on and do a run up to Achill Island and out to Keel beach for an evening swim (still being positive here Chris!) and then back to Westport for the bit of dinner.

Sunday we will have to see who is going what direction i suppose so we can talk that one over.

Any comments?

Definitely up for a ride in the afternoon too... will go with the flow really.

I may try to bag a couple more photorally points on the way back on Sunday too... See how it goes I guess.

Pat.

PS. Have decided that I will dine out in fine style this weekend, and not try to cook me own brekkie. So, no hanging around in the morning lads - I don't function well without brekkie of some sort...

Things are not looking good at this end. Something personal has come up and I don't think I'll be able to make it at all this weekend. I'm sickened as I was looking forward to a few days on the bike. I hope to sort something out but it's not looking likely.

Shame that Kickstarter and R1-man can't make it. TrevtheRev is out as well as he has still not fixed the rad after LAST YEARS G2G! Serious lack of motivation there I think - but my mate is coming along instead on his KTM which will be a nice novelty bike for the mix!
Heading off around 10:30 over back-roads to avoid the motorway and doing a few stops on the way across.
