studley, please remember that 'photoshopped' pics arent allowed

That's me out then. I'll remove my photos.

Edit: Done ! Personally I think your being a bit pedantic not allowing my photos to be entered.

Who wants to look at a calendar full of dull, hazy, dark photos ? I'll make my own calendar thanks !

Blame me on this too. Tony and I spend hours going through the pics each year.

I have said all through the year what were looking for.

And if my shit memory serves me you got your bike in Feb or March, I can remember the conversation with Tony about the grass being very green.
We allowed it.

We will upset a few people. I won't have bikes that are too far away, covered in kit or 'blacked' out. Its not a pro Cal, but a TDM Cal, for bikes and the members.

And for the record: This is my third year of managing this calendar. It's bloody hard work, I have to badger a lot of people to complete it, Design it, crop and paste, pissing about jiggling pics, a 200 mile return run to the printers, sometimes twice using my time and fuel. and then organise the receipt of payments and the envelpoppys, stamps, post office labels, PayPal it goes on.

Wanna do it?

Im abrasive as Tony infected my foot with his bike and the lawyers say I will only get £55'000 from him. I was hoping for a bit more

As explained in my previous posts. All I do is try to correct the shortcomings of myself and my camera.

Unless I invest in a good camera or learn more about taking perfect photos then I see no point in submitting photos that look dull, dreary and lack any clarity. I'd just be wasting my time as I know they wouldn't get picked anyway.

I'm still confused about your decision to allow black and white photos. Did you mean it's ok to submit B&W photos, but only if the photos were taken in B&W and not if they were Photoshopped to B&W, or both ? Rules is rules right !

Cats, for the record why are you going on about your bloody hard work ? Did I miss something ? Have I been unappreciative towards you ?

for what its worth I am with CB on this one - i feel i may have opened a can of worms with my black and white photie but, to be fair, a large percentage of my pics are b/w (in fact I have to physically change my camera to colour - black and white is the default)

I once tried to undertake the 'forum calendar' thing in a previous incarnation (Ford Cortinas, Taunus' and derivatives) and nearly ended up tearing my hair out and killing people in the process.

Studley - hope I am not speaking out of turn but I have a plan so cunning you could pin a tale on it and call it a weasel - dunno if you would be up for it but how does this sound?;

you seem to know your way around Photoshop, howabout you host a separate thread for photoshopped images only - you could produce a monthly desktop with a calendar bar underneath (similar for example to what M&P do) - that way both the unmolested images and the photoshopped images get their place. There could be a poll to pick which image is voted 'best of the month'

just an idea

Because black and white are natural and not modified by a computer where the user modifys the image after the picture is taken.

And I go on about it being hard work because it is, and could do without people whinging like puppies, sulking and removing posts because own way is not had.

I'm one step away from deleting this complete topic and saying Fuck it.

Push me.

I didnt mean to step into / start a debacle - would it be impolite to suggest that PM's might be a good way to sort this one - peace and love and all that??

I blame you stu, we used to blame OLDstu....but well you are new so its your turn.

I started the calendar thing as a fun thang and did not care if the photos had been altered or not. If they got voted in they were in. For example Dandy photoshopped out a pier on his.

Am also aware that it is a complete pain in the arse to organise the thing. Lack of time and the pain in the pooper were the reasons I gave up and thankfully cats stepped in so guess if he don't want em shopped then thats that.

"Whats up", "Piston Broke", "Yeah me too...hic"

Don't think there's any point in the idea Stu, although I appreciate what your saying.

The decision about which photos are gonna be used is down to Tony and Cats, not the carpe members.

For me, photoshopped is great if it's spruced up a dull photo. And when you consider the amount of photoshopping you can actually do with a decent camera then it's all a bit subjective anyway. If a photo looks good, it looks good...simples !

I submitted a great photoshopped photo for the 2010 cal. with my bike parked in front of a shop called 'All Things Cake' smile.gif
Epitomised Carpe and lots of positive comments about it. Just a bit o fun really and I knew it wouldn't be selected as it was obviously heavly shopped, but I bet a few wudda liked it in the calendar just for the grin factor.

Anyway, nuff said, time to move on. Fuck it !

EDIT: I wouldn't be fuckin whining if you didn't set such petty childish rules !
