Myself & Colin (AKA Fatchap) have booked an extra night at the bunkhouse on the Sunday, anyone else doing the same, or going to be around for a Sunday rideout? Not sure where to go yet, probably best to watch the weather and decide on the Sunday morning. John O'Groats looks tempting though, I've never been - 148 miles from Aviemore, along the East coast according to Google. Is it a worthwhile rideout?

J o'G is a bit of a disappointment (read shithole) kinda dreary and dull - better route would be up the A9 to Bettyhill and cut across the 897 to the north coast, turn west towards Tongue and either down the middle to Lairg, or better still keep west and down the A838I won't be up to Aviemore til around 7pm - could someone keep me a lower bunk in the quiet room please??? blush.gif

A good run in the north east is:Start Aviemore, A95 to Grantown on Spey - Aberlour - Keith, and Gordonstown, B9022 to Portsoy (a lovely 18th c harbour, A98 to Huntly, A97 to Rhynie and Bellabeg, A944 to Cockbridge, A939 to Lecht Ski Centre - Tomintoul and Grantown on Spey, then back to Aviemore. Distance is 175 miles. If it's wet in the west and the north this would make a good alternative as it's drier in this part of Scotland. Can some clever clogs turn this into a map as the one I've produced I can't upload for some reason.
