Could'nt see it anywhere here but the daily rate is going to be around £20.00. Get your bike out asap

My truck was in storage after my accident last December and for 28 days I was charged £986 plus £120 to bring it 4 miles home.

Get it out Studs asap

Selina - you just reminded me about having to read through my ins. policy so i'll do that later, sometime, before tomorrow, possibly !

Jonny - thanks fer the info, makes sense to me and I'll bear it in mind.

I've been snooping around the Notts Police 'Policies' and I won't be charged for storage before the four-hen-chics investigate. After that I get 24hrs to collect the bike after which I start paying for storage.

I'll keep ya all posted on events as the Police's policy on Vehicle Recovery changed in 2008 so many of you won't be aware of the changes.

Cats - fookin 'ell mate ! I feel better already after hearing that. Thas very painful to say the least !

Probably not much help now as I've been out of the trade for a few years, but Norfolk/Suffolk police standard recovery charge was £105+vat and storage was charged at the recovery operators own rate (if stored at their yard). Your insurance should take care of it (I'm assuming comp ins).

Like Cats said - get it out of there asap, 'cause the charges soon rack up.

Try not to get too down - you'll soon be reunited.

Sorry to hear about your troubles rolleyes.gif

Have you been on to the insurance yet? With a bit of luck they might cover the charge in the same way that they would a charge for the ambulance after an accident (ie no excess + record of the claim to increase your policy). dunno.gif

Hope you get it back soon, you never know they might have some luck catching the barstewards that pinched it punishment.gif

Read through my policy, like ya do, and I'm covered, but I don't know if it'll affect my no claims. That said, if it did, I'd only lose one years no claims bonus which is equivalent to 12.5% of £130. biggrin.gif

However, if I then made another claim I'd lose all my 3 yrs ncb.

My comment about CCTV being useless was from the legal point of view. If you expect evidence from CCTV to stand up in court you're going to be disappointed. You have to put up correct signs, you have have a pucka system etc. for it to be used in court.

But if you just want it for your own benefit then yes of course it does have it's uses. I'm planning on using an IP camera hooked up to my network drive to 'watch over' my driveway.

In fact I once took a photo of a dickhead driving up my street (one way) the wrong way. The police said they couldn't use it as I had taken the photo, not them!

Glad you've got your bike back mate, it really does rub slat in the wounds though, just like if you have an accident then have to pay for your ambulance trip to hospital! This happened to my wife......

I acknowledge what you say Maximus. I just want to know who has been mooching around my house/garden/garage. If I have pics of someone even if no use as evidence in court, it will of course have its uses....

Hugh Shaw? If that's the case then how come we've seen a rash of Facetube posters getting gripped for various road related stunt monkey action? In a programme on D&C cops investigating RTA's the footage of the driver's face filmed on a camcorder minutes before the fatal crash was used as evidence he was driving- though not tested in court as he pled guilty. Is this one of them there one rule for them scenarios or is each case taken on it merit? Or is it some bloomin' humin wrights tosh?

Dude, you need to get her back quickly!

Yeah, camera evidence only seems to work against you. It does have it's uses for sure but going ton personal experience even town centre CCTV doesn't seem to 'catch' the crooks and provide robust evidence for court. But do a wheelie with a bullet cam and you get 6 months.... go figure dunno.gif

Was a story on the southern news last night.

Bloke in Brighton sneaked into someones garden, rang on door, woman answers, he exposes himself and loads of pervy talk. They showed sections from her CCTV to show just who he was (excellent pics on this occasion). I know nobody has disagreed with this but it proved its use in this instance to some extent. Somebody will def be able to id him.

Acknowledging the comments above about what will and wont stand up in court (and of course I will probably miss the conclusion of the story), just makes me wonder what will happen when they catch him? Denials etc. What evidence will they have? Will that (plus any other footage) not be used against him I wonder? I appreciate that it will be used to pressure him to confess, but......

EDIT - Neglected Ians situation there.....sorry. I wonder...... stroll confidentally into the 'pound' (or wherever your bike is).....'come to collect my bike'.....questions.....'yh, not needed now, spoke with blah blah blah who has told me to collect it'.......paperwork......'yh, being done at moment etc.'

....stranger things have happened! I have gotten away with similar before now......thing is, you prob have to move out of your house for a few months until they 'forget' all about it wink.gif

Not a problem Peter,or anyone else, feel free to post up yer thoughts in me topic, on or off smile.gif

I had a bike stolen back in the early 90's, my lovely lickle RD125LC. The policeman who found it had hidden at the end of a tunnel and knocked the chav off the bike as he went past. (my kinda copper smile.gif ) Fingerprints and riding it weren't enough to secure a result. Chav was cautioned fer handling stolen goods.

If you think storage charges are dear, you'll sh*t yourself at the price of this.

There was a story on the news a while back.

A couple had their range rover stolen. It was later seen at a nearby pub, so the police turn up and tow it to a depot, scaring off the crooks in the process (missed opportunity there). The police call the owner, 'we've recovered your car, just dusting for prints etc. get it back soon' etc. etc.

Then some time later the crooks break into the compound and steal the bloody thing again, this time never seen again!

Never underestimate the incompetence of the police force, sorry I know some are worth their salt but some are just plain useless!

She's back at home smile.gif

The only damage is ignition barrel broken and the offside mirror is missing. And I'm £150 lighter. Haven't got time to fully inspect right now, but a quick scan and I think that's it.

Looks like they managed to force the ignition, it now turns with a screwdriver, but were probably unaware of the big red button laugh.gif

Just had a blast up the A1 on my way back and all seems to be working.

Missed my 3pm dentist appointment sad.gif more expense, as I had until Monday 1pm to fetch her. They close today at 4.30pm and open at 10am on Monday so couldn't risk leaving it 'til Monday in case she wouldn't start.
