Not to me, Where does it stop?

I have Baseball bats in my house, They come in then no rules apply, I dont give a shit what happens, My Daughter will be secure with me.

This guy was stealing bikes and not wearing a helmet KNOWING that the Police would not chase him, playing the card.

Now you may feel sorry for him but he plays the game. Another type of Gladiator in my books, you live to the edge you die for it too.

Would we cry if Stud's bike did get started and then they hit another vehicle and died? I hope not, We are aware of what we do, the risk v the reward

Move on, and no doubt his wife or girlfriend will be suing someone as it was unfair he died

Getting very bitter in my gaining years

Martin

It's nothing to do wih Darwin, either - before the helmet law came in, most people managed well enough without helmets.

Actually it is - natural selection removes the weaker members from a population group, thereby resulting in a stronger species. He stole things, he rode around without a helmet (which if he was wanted by the police isn't the smartest way to avoid their attention), and he died of head injuries after he crashed while not wearing a helmet. He put himself in a high risk position, and it killed him. He was 24 and no mention of children so he died before he was able to breed. Natural selection.

I don't think anyone managed to smash their unprotected head into a van at speed and avoid injury at any time in motorcycling history.

Yup I've got a baseball bat too.

I lived next door to fecking smack head drug dealing scumbags for 4 miserable years. I wish they'd all die too. uhmyeah.gif

We're too soft on this element of society.

Thus demonstrating your complete misunderstanding of natural selection.

Retribution I'd call it smile.gif Something justly deserved. I'm not saying a thievin chav should die, but given the situation, what else would the chav have expected to happen. We all know how vulnerable it feels riding wi no lid, he would have felt exactly the same, probably even moreso, and yet he took the risk and lost.

He fought the law and the law won. ce'st la vie, Kay Sarah, Sarah, (Say Tarah, Tarah) it's just the way it is.....

He also said:

QUOTE
It is better to be violent, if there is violence in our hearts, than to put on the cloak of nonviolence to cover impotence.

The problem with natural selection is that it favours the strong over the weak.
In our society the "strong" are not always the people that you want in said society.

No human deserves to die before their time. There are members of our race that do not deserve to have an active role in society, but death?

This guy, scum as he is, has left an indelible mark on the people that he interacted with.
His parents have lost a loved one.
The van driver he hit has to deal with the fact he killed someone (albeit not his fault) for the rest of his life.
The person who bike was stolen may feel both revenge and remorse.

To label any loss of life, for whatever reason, as justice is in my view moot.

Don't get me wrong if someone did something to any of my nearest & dearest then I'd would probably "want blood", but that doesn't mean I'd be comfortable with their death (if the circumstance was serious enough to warrant it).

I guess it's all subjective, and being unique individuals we all have differing views on these types of events.

I'm not grieving for this guy; however, he is a statistic that impacts on bike laws for the future. Killed in a bike crash, no distinction in the statistics if it was his bike or not.

Having actually HAD a bike stolen, I wouldn't have wished the thief to die. It's only a bike FFS. It's nothing to do wih Darwin, either - before the helmet law came in, most people managed well enough without helmets. And anyone buying second hand spares may have inadvertantly provided a market for stolen bikes and bits. All those bits on eBay - do we wish the sellers dead?

If that's 'justice', how do you escalate it for something serious?

makes sense

Nobody can defend a pedo, plain and simple, all pedos deserve death.

Perhaps we can say that once that line is crossed, their time is up.

Sorry, off on a tangent now......

So you're suggesting a degree in agriculture and 20 years in scientific research has given me a completely false understanding of the biological world? blink.gif I have seen natural selection occur in front of me with chemical resistance in plant populations, just to name one instance, I am sure I understand the concept very well.

What does revenge have to do with it? I never suggested he deserved to die, I was stating an observation, not an opinion. And I don't believe it is justice either, no one should die just for stealing a bike.

Wish I'd kept my mouth shut now. Last post in this thread for me.

I'm proud to be a part of this community, I really am.

Why? I hear you ask, well, this exact same thread, over the same incident, started on another forum I frequent. It only lasted approximately 5 responses before it was locked after someone complained to the admin, even though it was in the basement/unmoderated section. I do believe that caused more of a stir than said article.

Here, it started to go the same way (minus the admin lock down), however it's rolled on and a lot of good words have been said from all sides of the discussion. I have an opinion, and it's valid, however not voiced here, but I also respect some of the points raised from people that are opposing my opinion. That to me is good as it opens the mind to alternative perspectives.

This is why I love this forum and the people on it.

normally i think Onanist is a complete wan@er but I have to agree on this score! laugh.gif

many other forums would have locked this topic off, i used to hang out on a forum that specialised in Yamaha singles between 650 & 670cc and I reckon it would have lasted about ten minutes

for my part, i think its sad - the path of being a bike thief, a drug dealer or a general ne'er do well is one that I could well have taken when i was younger, I was really really lucky that I had a really strong role model in my Mom who just about managed to keep me on the straight and narrow (the old man was a copper who was just about the most racist and homophic bloke around - remember the West Midlands Serious Crime Squad, backhanders abound) I was lucky, I got into a few minor scrapes and got pointed in the right direction, sometimes with the help of a bloody hard boot up my backside.

This guy stole a motorbike ffs. A piece of machinery. He didnt deserve to die - 'justice' implies 'equity', do you really think that the value of a life (no matter how wretched you may feel it is) equates to that of a motorbike (even a 9er!)

How about looking at it this way? You have saved for years for your pride and joy, you buy the bike of your dreams and some lowlife srote helps himself to it. Whilst trying to make his evil escape he stuffs the bike and writes it off. He is unscathed and the police scoop him up and take him into custody. In this hypothetical world there exists a piece of law whereby the victim of a crime has the opportunity to decide on the fate of the perpetrator, one of your choices is to have him sentenced to death. Now bear in mind that this is your pride and joy, you have saved up your hard earned to buy it. Who on this forum would actually make the choice to have him sentenced to death?
