I'm proud to be a part of this community, I really am.
Why? I hear you ask, well, this exact same thread, over the same incident, started on another forum I frequent. It only lasted approximately 5 responses before it was locked after someone complained to the admin, even though it was in the basement/unmoderated section. I do believe that caused more of a stir than said article.
normally i think Onanist is a complete wan@er but I have to agree on this score!
many other forums would have locked this topic off, i used to hang out on a forum that specialised in Yamaha singles between 650 & 670cc and I reckon it would have lasted about ten minutes
for my part, i think its sad - the path of being a bike thief, a drug dealer or a general ne'er do well is one that I could well have taken when i was younger, I was really really lucky that I had a really strong role model in my Mom who just about managed to keep me on the straight and narrow (the old man was a copper who was just about the most racist and homophic bloke around - remember the West Midlands Serious Crime Squad, backhanders abound) I was lucky, I got into a few minor scrapes and got pointed in the right direction, sometimes with the help of a bloody hard boot up my backside.
This guy stole a motorbike ffs. A piece of machinery. He didnt deserve to die - 'justice' implies 'equity', do you really think that the value of a life (no matter how wretched you may feel it is) equates to that of a motorbike (even a 9er!)
How about looking at it this way? You have saved for years for your pride and joy, you buy the bike of your dreams and some lowlife srote helps himself to it. Whilst trying to make his evil escape he stuffs the bike and writes it off. He is unscathed and the police scoop him up and take him into custody. In this hypothetical world there exists a piece of law whereby the victim of a crime has the opportunity to decide on the fate of the perpetrator, one of your choices is to have him sentenced to death. Now bear in mind that this is your pride and joy, you have saved up your hard earned to buy it. Who on this forum would actually make the choice to have him sentenced to death?
