Bollocks to that !!!!

"Who can complain that a sentence is unduly lenient?
Victims, their families, and members of the public may complain to their local CPS Area office, which may refer the sentence to the Attorney General if they consider the sentence to be unduly lenient."

I'm copying RoyG's letter and posting it tomorrow, In my name.

I owe Stormy at least that.

RIP Stormy; I only ever met him once but he seemed a really nice guy and knew a hell of alot about bikes

This **** missed a turning on his GPS and instead of carrying on and either finding somewhere safe to turn or allow the GPS to do a recalculation he fired it into reverse!!!!

Mike was a really nice guy and very safe to ride with.

Something similar just on the local news here:

quote...
PITTSBURGH -- A man was convicted of DUI -- but found not guilty of the more serious charge of homicide by vehicle -- after his pickup truck crashed into a tree that a motorcycle driver then hit.

Allegheny County Judge Jeffrey Manning delivered the split verdict on Wednesday, following a non-jury trial for 48-year-old Stephen Novacic, of Shaler.

Prosecutors said Novacic was driving on Washington Street in Etna on Aug. 9, 2008, when his truck went through a fence, down a hillside and struck a tree. The impact sent the tree down to Parker Street, where 59-year-old Alan Brocklebank hit it and was killed.

The truck was hauling a water tank and two concrete saws at the time of the crash, prosecutors said.

Novacic was also found not guilty of involuntary manslaughter. He was found guilty of a lesser charge of reckless driving, in addition to the DUI charge. /quote

His blood level was twice the legal limit. All judges and lawmakers should be required to ride motorcycles.

I can't be angry, this is what I have come to expect from this country's bollocks legal system. A guy on another forum is looking at possible prison time for filming a few wheelies on public road. No-one hurt or injured, this oxygen thief gets away with a slap on the wrist for killing someone. What a load of shit.

She went to the German Thunderace treffen in May this year as we had already planned to do with Mike, she did insist on taking the TRX. Myself and the Dutch group all met up at her house on Thursday night to ride down to the Harz mountains on Friday. She spent the weekend riding pillion with me (brave lass) and we returned back to her place on the Tuesday. Wednesday to Friday I spent helping to check over the Bandit, taking off the autocom kit and pro-oiler. We also managed a sight seeing day trip to Hamburg (and no that didnt include the Reaperbahn). She is keeping busy and has been away on holiday with her family.

I have had a reply off the CPS, saying just that, and saying that we can also write direct to the Attorney-Generals office to request that he refers this case to the Court of Appeal as a potential unduly lenient sentence.

Attorney General's Office
20 Victoria Street
London
SW1H 0NF

Date: 29th November 2010.

For the attention of Mr Dominic Grieve

Dear Mr Grieve,
Potentially Unduly Lenient Sentence.

On the 3rd October 2009 a friend of mine, Michael Waters, was killed in a road traffic accident at the junction of the B660 and A14, police reference CF0095460310. Michael Frost the driver of the car involved in the accident was charged and found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving in October this year. Judge Sean Enright sentenced Mr Frost on The 10th November 2010 at Peterborough Crown Court, I understand the court reference No is 35CU/50164/10.

Mr Frost’s sentence was a 51-week prison sentence suspended for two years, 200 hours community service and asked to pay court costs. I consider this to be unduly lenient given the seriousness of the offense and far below the penalties recommended in Section 1 RTA 1988 which are 1 to 14 years in prison, and disqualified for a minimum of two years.

I respectfully request that you refer this case to the Court of Appeal as a potential unduly lenient sentence.

Yours Faithfully

This is sad, bad, and typical of the law in this country. It's the reason why I rarely read a paper anymore. I would have absolutly no hesitation in providing my own 'sentence' and take the consequences, if anyone messed with my family. Perhaps being an old bugger with no mortgage would allow me to do this, but I think many in this country feel the same.
I never knew Mike but send my condolences to his family.
