I've got the time off but how much would it really cost?

€53 per night, so are people doing 3 nights at the hotel or just 1 night?

Who would i go with?

I've never been on such a big meet before and would feel lost !

any help for a newbie?

It will be 7 nights, 4 in Masserberg , best thred to see what people are doing is the meet up thread.

See who is going roughly on your schedule and tag along, alot from NW are meeting at Lymm services and going down together.

Main thing is booking the accomodation, see the first post.

Cost, I am taking = £700 + booze. ( two crates of Brown Ale on the back )

Dont worry about not knowing one, You'll know me I'm the one with the Irish accent.

dont worry about not knowing anyone, we're a very friendly bunch and only tar&feather you the first time we meet so dont worry too much, it saves you shaving for the rest of the week wink.gif

the cost of the trip is really up to you
fuel is obviously dependant on how 'enthusiastic' you like to be
you can camp and cook ya own grub if on a tight budget
do you like a 'few' beers in the evening? if so dont worry theres a few that like that too
same with grub, can be as cheap or as expensive as you like

i normally work on £800 for a week but that is living pretty good, gonna have to get that down a bit for the MT tho as i'm planning for 18days dry.gif
so camping and cooking my own for some of the time is a necessity

Well, we do have the option to put up your own tent, that would significantly reduce the accommodation costs. Riding costs are hard to reduce: Fuel, ferry, speeding tickets... wink.gif

But be assured, there will ne a meeting in Germany next year as well. Location is not yet defined, though.

Regards from south-western Germany,
Lars

Just a short update from the event team:

We plan to offer an "event t-shirt" that will be distributed at the event site.

This is the (german) thread in the german forum. The shirts are black with orange print. Size from XS to XXXXL, larger shirts on special order, to be confirmed). Each shirt is 12 EUR.

This is our sample:

The shirts are personalized on the front (one-liner, please decide between your nick and real name).

No shipping is planned. Distribution at the event!

You can order via emailing to this address:
tdmfmt-shirt@web.de

Contents of email:
First and last name:
Nickname in german forum (alternatively your carpe nick, preceeded by (carpe)):
Print on the front: (one line only)
Size: (XS to XXXXL)

Last order can be placed on May 10th, payment must arrive by May 17th, otherwise your order will be discarded.

After ordering, your should get a confirmation within 48 hours including bank details.

Orderers from non-Euro countries should consider a collective order/payment to reduce costs for money transfer.

And to avoid any confusion: We have no "dress code". You are not obliged to buy and wear the shirt to be welcome!

Does someone want to organise a Carpe group buy to save on money transfer costs (I'm not going to volunteer due to my poor level or organisational skills)? When we went to MT08 we found we can't easily do bank transfers to an German account so had to send via Paypal which obviously has an admin fee.

1992 Mk1, 76k miles, Hagon springs, MTC exhaust, 4½ gears Gone now :(
2009 900 abs, 42k miles, Yamaha heated grips, double bubble screen, R&G crash bungs, scottoiler, Autocom, 1500 lumen LED spotlights.

Well, that's something we "continental Europeans" still remember from the pre-Euro days, but are not accustomed "to any more. If my "t-shirt colleague" has no better suggestion, I can try to act as a "payment bridgehead". Whether the transfer works best/cheapest via cheque, paypal, regular bank transfer, notes in envelope or any other means..? That would be up to you to investigate.

But I am sure, we will find a way (maybe some members of the orga team want to be paid in single malt? rolleyes.gif )

As our "Mr. T-Shirt" does not have a paypal account, he asked me to relay the money if you prefer that payment method.

Please be aware of the transaction costs for receiving on my side:
Transactions in Euro: 1.9 % + 0.35 Euro
Transactions in GBP: 3.9 % + 0.35 Euro (potentially plus 2.5% conversion fee)

I am not a paypal pro, so please check any any additional fees on your side.

If you want my paypal details, please send me a personal message.
