Got a bit of info regarding the shims. Unfortunately, it won't be possible for me to bring along the shim collection on the day of the fettle. The shims are still available fer swapping to sportin' members via Dappers, but this'll mean that on the day, it'll only be possible to check the valve clearances and find out which shims need swapping.
I recently borrowed the whole shim stack, some £200+ worth of 'em and, upon returning them back to dappers via recorded delivery, the envelope was opened and some shims disappeared. Yes, thieving scum at the PO

So, I hope ya all agree, wi Dappers an me, it's too risky posting the full stack. Add to that the fact that I'm not that keen on being the person responsible for their safe return, esp. when it's outta my control, and there ya have it.
The only other option I can think of fer getting 'em done on the day would be to find somewhere local that sells 'em and go buy what ya need. Otherwise it'll have to be a job in 2 parts.

Nearest stealers are Beccles or Norwich. Neither open on Sundays, so that kind of rules out that idea. If they're the same size as Suzuki shims? there's a local(ish) dealer that'll be open, but it's still a little bit of a trek (20 mile round trip).

It would seem that since proof of purchase is required for claims, that my shims, although sent recorded signed for are neither safe nor reclaimable...and since they are genuine factory shims, they ain't replaceable either.
Apologies if this causes fettler day issues.

Trev, the shims are EDIT: 9.48mm, I think, diameter so the Suzuki place might have some Hot Cams or similar.

I'll be more than happy to spread the word/further inform you/offer Expensive Fan Club membership enrollment regarding The Pa Larkin Quality Hand Crafted Shim Retaining System at the fettle day. It's unfortunate that The Pa Larkin Quality Hand Crafted Shim Retaining System won't be available at the fettle day as you cudda seen for yourself how it actually operates, an wot it looks loike. I'm sure that if you did see The Pa Larkin Quality Hand Crafted Shim Retaining System you'd be rushing to fill in The Pa Larkin Quality Hand Crafted Shim Retaining System Fan Club membership application form.
