It really did'nt look like we were gonna get away cos the weather was not promising at all,,,, then Dave ended up working later than normal on the Friday so it looked like we were stuffed,,,however a txt from Dave at 16.30 saw me running around like a mad arse getting packed and loaded and off to meet Dave,,, of course the big bloody girl took ages to make himself beautiful and get going,, but by 18.50 we were away.

Due to the late departure time we banged straight down the A55 to the A5 for the last 20 miles to Capel Curig,,, a boring route but necessary due to the time,,,,if your coming along in the summer pick a scenic route to get there, will be worth it.
We pitched up, ha ha well Dave did being the camp expert (oops camping tongue.gif ). The road up to the camp site,, well cinder path a few hundred metres long needs a little careful negotiation as it has some lose shingly bits and ya dont want to drop ya bike,,, well not the 900's anyway biggrin.gif

There are two fields seperated by an old stone wall and we will be camping in the back field,,,, think it would be good if we can get the back of the field which is stepped above the rest of the campsite,,, a bit like a small plateau,,,,,,there's a stream running at the back of us which is very soothing,,,,well it might be if we can hear it over Daves bloody snoring ha ha.
The bunk house is a bit of a walk to the campers,,,, about 1 min away and the block house is down the cinder path,,,,, the block house is where the shower and toilets are,,,,,, 1 shower,, two toilets cubicles with a sink in each and a kitchen sink in the middle,,,,,showers are 50p which gives you 4 mins so bring change with you,,,, if it's really busy ya might be queing up for a shower or dump but ya can either bring a recepticle to wash in ( water tap at entrance to our field) and a shovel to dig a hole for emptying of the bowel,,,,,,however there is also a ladies with the same ameniites so us 9r boys will have the choice biggrin.gif Did'nt get a chance to look in the bunk house as it was occupied and a bit busy in the morning,,, The location is excellent,,, very scenic and peaceful with sheep in the adjoining field if ya dont get lucky in the pub or just feel frisky at anytime,,,,, in fact one of the newly borns was shouting Daaaaaaaad,, Daaaaaaaad when Dave got out of his pit on Sat morning huh.gif
The very important bit especially for Jim,,,,,it takes a whole 5 minutes to walk from the camp site to the pub,, in fact it might take 7 if we camp at the top,,, hope that's not to far for you old fella's laugh.gif
A pint cost £3.20,, they got lager and peculiar sounding names for the Bitter,,, Cwmbrian rare ale or summit like that and a couple of others if ya like the stuff,, there's a big table which we can hopefully bag or in another part of the pub there are a bunch of couches in a seating area which looks nice and cosey,,,,also the option of sitting outside just opposite the pub on tables and benches on a nice night.
Food served till 21.00 hrs with a varied menu,, prices vary from £15.00 for the Welsh lamb special to £7 £8 & £9 for different dishes,, all in all the pub is very welcoming and friendly,,,, practice ya polish if you want to chat the barmaids up fellas,,,,,,it's a shame we got there so late,, was about 21.50 by the time we got in the pub so we only managed 5 pints and a large Brandy till last call at 22.50 (22.30 on Sunday) well i think it was 5 pints cos Dave was looking very horny afterwards,,,,,,, maybe they extend the hours in the summer,,,,,then again the time's are not so bad if your expecting to ride the next day.

We did'nt get to stop down the road for brekkie,,,,,sorry Studs it was frequented by a couple of GS boyo's so we boycotted it wink.gif and we ended up getting breakfast in Tremadog which is about 20 mins away.

So the all important pub is literally next door if ya wish to frequent it at anytime and it's a crackin location for ride outs and as Dave said you have a choice of camping,,,bunkhouse or Hotel (pub) if your flush.

Dave got the route we did that morning,,,and it's a good mix of little back roads on scenic routes and fast flowing B roads,,, but due to the weather as we got really hammered we called it off and headed home to drier pastures,,,,, it's a shame it rained so much on the Sat,, but after no rain for a number of weeks the roads became quite greasy and we had to take it pretty easy,,, still enjoyable though and i'm glad we went even though we were late gettng there and had to cut it short in the morning.

Just to ad to cliff's write up

I do a lot of camping around snowdonian and have been to most of the camp sites but to be honest
this site is OK.... but just OK they could do with more showers and a WC a bit closer to the camping
area, site was clean tho and Bikes made welcome

also the soil under the grass is 3-4 " at most then rock so no Big fook off long tent pegs

Pub was nice tho and more than made up for it wub.gif
