For those of us in the States who were screwed out of any TDM from 1994 on......
Can it be done on a Mk1? Lots of life left in my Mk1 but I want to look towards the future.

yes Tom it can be done to yer MKI, even XTZ 750's can have it done apparently.

spyball alarm/immob, bluespot brake calipers and Stainless hoses, Fournales air adjustable shock with Remote Resevoir, forks raised 10mm thru yokes, racetech linear fork springs in 15 wt oil, Kappa wingrack/luggage, heated grips, Kedo handguards, dual heat controller to power heated jacket liner and or pants!!, Stebel 136DB horn, K&N air filter, colour matched Baglux tank cover (magnetic tank bag modified to fit cover), osram +50% headloight bulbs, headlight protector,"NitramSpecial" parking loight, tail light indicators all running on LED's & incorporate "Lite Buddies", MK7 Scottoiler fitted, taller screen, 2-2 stainless steel CCC's, Devil stainless down pipes. MKI Renntec engine crash bars & sump guard.
engine changed july 2007 on a dyno run it made 79.1BHP / Torque 59.9Had a brief flirtation with a 1999 MKIIa but it blew an exaust valve on the M5 so was sold on to be repaired.
I loike tay and hang sangwiches !

Rick here, yep a 750 plus the 900 barrels give 850cc approx.
It was nice to see all my work put to good use.
I was going to increase the comp ratio some more, as it ran on cheap petrol with no pinking, and i had just put some V2 cams in.
I am only visiting as a nostalgia trip , as the final development work never got done as some thieving scum nicked the bike last May.
I couldn't go through all the work again, so got a KTM 950 which is very.nice, but I would still swop it for my nicked bike, it was so nicely made for me.
Will keep poppping in now and again

So were all the details and measurements ever posted up anywhere? I want to start collecting the parts for one of my bikes. As was mentioned earlier, we don't have any options in the US but to keep our old ones running. I've ridden the WeeStrom, the Tiger, the Gran Canyon, Multistrada, etc...all the adventure bikes available to us, and even though many of them are more "modern" and have more conveniences, none of them are as fun to me as my TDM...

i wonder why it will give 850cc approx and not 900cc ???? shorter stroke or ???

Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.

Done: Homo sap navigation/ twisty thing on bars to make it go vroom/ grabby thing to make it stop (in front of twisty thing)/ 'leccy things front and rear to make it glow at night/ Sucky + drippy oiler thing to keep chains moist (!!) / Laser Pro Stock Race pipes / bleeding ear drums (see previous mod)

We have decided to skim the head, as it is easier than skimming the bottom of the barrels, the liners protrude so machining around them could be costly. I also have a spare head, so if it doesn't work out, I can undo anything and use ricks method.
So far I havent machined or skimmed anything, but all the bits are apart and the measurements are done, so if anyone knows of any reason these two things shouldn't be together, let them speak now, or forever hold their peace(or piece, I'm not sure)
I will keep you updated, but the whole job should be finished by next week..................I hope.

Emmett's rarely on the site these days - he used the 900 tensioner and guides from memory.
