The cake signifies the bond between you and your TDM, now for the good bit, because technically cake is a service item and a part of your bike, it calorie free so you can eat it guilt free but if you ever get rid of the steed then it'll all come back to bite ya in the arse

Ok picked the bike up today, and taken a few piccys and managed to put them on my signature strip. I think if you click on the pictures they should open up a lot bigger. rolleyes.gif Not looked too closely yet but guess I'll have a go at the airbox mod first. excl.gif

Good morning one and all! Just registered to the forum and this looks the place to introduce myself? I'm Chris, 33, and the new owner of a TDM 850, 1999 vintage.

Bought it on Friday, gave it a quick looking over on Saturday, then did 150 miles on Sunday through West Wales and 240 on Monday through Mid Wales.

Now looking to do a few jobs to make it my own. First couple of jobs will be scott-oiller, power output for charging electrickery things like phone/ipad/satnav etc, and hopefully fit some new bars to reduce the ache of my wrists after extended periods on the move. I'm finding the bars are a bit too twisted inwards for my previously crash damaged wrists!

A bit of history. Used to do a few Enduros in my late teens, then progressed to variois road bikes in my early 20s, then packed bikes in for about 8 yrs. Bought another road legal off roader for green lanes about 2 yrs ago. Did a moped trip last April for charity, and have had the urge for a road bike again for quite some time. All road bikes so far have been Jap 4cyl, so this is quite new to me.

Really enjoying the tor-key-ness of the lump, and the handling is more than enough for my capabilities. Will doing my short commute on the bike quite often, and general running around to save some pennies on fuel too. Speaking of which, I can report my consumption of the first two trips to be 55mpg and 61mpg respectively. Not bad when you consider the roads and my "out of practice, un-smooth riding styleeeeee"!!!!!

Guess I should shut up for now huh?

Cheers, Chris

Ta, will look into those bars if what I have in mind doesn't come to fruition.

I'm from "south mid west wales" but may well pop up for that! Thanks for the heads up.

Hi All

Brand new to the TDM club biggrin.gif . I live in South Africa and bought my TDM900, 2008 model, last week. Best blessed bike I have ever ridden. Other bikes owned, in order, are:
Kawasaki KL250
Honda CB750K
Yamaha XJ750
Yamaha FZX750 (still owned)
Yamaha XT600 Tenere (still owned)

Yeah yeah, I have a Yamaha fetish laugh.gif
My only problem with the bike is that I'm an IT Geek and work from home, so commuting is a bit of a problem.

[Hi Thomas and all your readers.
My Name is Colin and I live in a place called Maghull, just north of Liverpool Merseyside.
I have just bought a TDM 900A 2008 vintage (a week ago)only done about 200 miles but in comparison to my BMW F800ST that I part ex in, Yamaha have got it just about right with the TDM I will never have a BMW again problems with rear wheel bearings after 11000 miles and so expensive for parts.
Only crib with TDM is no center stand, I need one to store in the garage. Anyone got one that they can sell me??
Regards Colin]

Hello all.!I have recently signed up to the forum.
I live in South Devon and have had most types of bike from a Kawasaki KR1S to a Yamaha R1 with all types in between during my 24 years on two wheels.
I've just picked up a 2000 TDM 850 in silver/ black which seems in excellent condition for it's advancing years.
It has just under 7k warranted miles and some fruity carbon can co pipes on it.
I bought it so me and my lad (13) could go out and spend some father/son time together.
It's taking some getting used to and there are a few things I need to try and work out if "they are all like that"
But in the main it seems like a very useable machine..!
