The positive side of this, Patrick, is that you can possibly use the advertised prices on auto-trader to negotiate the best possible settlement. (As long as they help your position).
From memory, my eventual agreed value was £5500 against a first offer of £4500! This was based on the research I did at the time and being able to demonstrate that prices had gone up significantly more than both the original buying price (which had been a no longer available deal) and the 'Glass's Guide' pricings for 6 month old bike.
I actually found the insurance company very realistic and sensible to deal with. As in any negotiation, knowledge is power, so do your research and have references to hand to substantiate your position. (sorry if I am teaching grannie to suck eggs). I am sure people closer to current market, and insurance situation will be able to help more, but I hope this is of some help.
Best of luck and remember there is always a positive side - you get a chance to buy another bike with a cheque in your hand and a strong buying position.
