The "via points" that are created when direct routing are not renameable for some reason!!! But I found this program: http://www.sackman.info/ to convert them all to "waypoints" which are renameable. This should mean the best of both worlds. You can create a route with "direct route" but then rename the points....very handy for offroad/tracks/canals etc.
And also for treaders this site: http://bikeroutetoaster.com/ which allows you to create/view/save/download/upload a route and view in all of the google type sat/map/earth etc much easier than in Mapsource. If you select the mode of transport it actually then selects the best route for that transport, whereas Mapsource doesn't for the treader even though it asks for travel type. Am concerned that if I create a route from one map (ie toaster) but then download the route to the GPS (using the free cycle maps) that it might not be the same and its gonna get upset at EVERY BONG point!!! :
