Wac was very impressive considering his lack of training, he found the hills tough. The Spanish mountains, even close to the coast were savage...and the heat was also savage...and carrying luggage savage. Once in France on the flat and used to the hours of pedalling, the miles became much easier and we really whoooped our daily target, hence back 5 or 6 days early.

We did alot of the Pilgrims trail in Spain which was ace, peeps travelling with donkeys and allsorts. We rough camped mostly but noticed that alot of the Moo-niciple campsites along the trail had a tarif for horses. laugh.gif I ended up carrying a few apples to donate to donks along the way, which often amused the pilgrims when a grtt fat wac got off his treader wearing a Trilby and ran up waving an apple.

The most inconvenient thing about this treadering is the unwieldy nature of a treader laden with pan-ears and other gubbins.  It takes on a mind of its own and is particularly hard to prop against things as the front wheel constantly tries to jackknife and unless ground completely flat, with all that weight it will try to burger oft.  Another related problem is because of my preference for remoteness, often there is just noubt to prop against anyways.  Also related is accessing pan-ears with the boike laying on the ground.  Also related is laying the boike down on the derrailing device side without damaging it.  Also related is stress on the pan-ear rack and wheels from hoiking it back upright after laying it down.  There are a few other things but definitely enough for me to try and come up with a solution.

Firstly I tried a folding walking stick.  This worked really well and was really easy to prop/unprop and lightweight.  The downside was that it wasn't very easy to stow-in-the-wold.

So the next idea was to try a fishermans bank rod rest.  It works, and by dismantling the tripod that it came with I had most of the bracketry to attach to the boike. In combination with an O-ring from bars to brake lever its as solid as a wok.  :badgerrock:  Need to do some calculations for optimum length with luggage attached but its gonna work fine.

First day without rain in 2013 yesterday so made the most of it.  (actually it did rain but missed me so am counting that as no rain)
