I can not advise to strongly that you use as little pressure as possible and make sure that you have a sacrificial piece of wood pressed firmly to the back of the screen to prevent cracking as the drill bit emerges.
You may find you get a cleaner hole if you start off with a small pilot hole then drill the proper size only part way through before turning the screen over an finishing off from the other side.

BTW 6.2mm = .244 of an inch which is near as dammit (6 thou ) off a 1/4 inch imperial drill bit good.gif might save someone having to go out and buy a 6.2mm drill wink.gif

Put some masking tape on the perspex where you're going to drill - less chance of it slipping sideways or cracking the screen.

It just goes to show that you can get too immersed in stuff. I did not include putting masking tape on first because I just do it without thinking on any potentially slippery surface I drill or cut. Durrr

got mine this morning thanks. even managed to rescue it from the step before it was spirited away by magpies around here that collect anything left unattended for a nano second. don't want to digress here but i think i'll give the tall screen thread a look and maybe go the whole hog. Then it's hit the jack D to steady the hands, charge the cordless drill and order a replacement screen.....doh. thanks again..great service.

Picked mine up from PO yesterday and looks very good. Also looks like will be a reasonable fit on Std Mk 2 screen.

Just need to get the time to try and fit it now - But would be interested in how anyone else with a std mk 2 screen gets on with fitting.

Thanks Andy for all your time and effort

Cheers

Got a McKeller 6mm (will sand out the rest if need be) hard/softwood bit for £1.99 from WH Smith Do-It-All: thought I'd get a sharp new one for the job, and for the money this one has a nice centrepoint and cutting spurs. So now I've got to do is measure properly (at least 3 times) and drill squarely..... blink.gif

I have just taken one out of its bag to check the measurements.
The plastic posts that pass through the screen are 5.8mm, so with a new 6mm drill bit you should have enough clearance not to need filing. Personally I think I would use a 6.5mm bit (sorry Pict) to give myself some adjustment room (your chances of being spot on when drilling by hand are slim), the plastic cover is over 14mm so you will not see a bigger hole when its all done up.
By the way the fixing screws need a T8 Torx bit.

Mine arrived today, offered it up to screen and I think it's going to fit. It will go well with my little yellow duck. Looking ahead to when these crazy winds die down. The only wind I want to hear is the one whistling over my MRA-vario screen
Thanks again Andy.

Na I've got four of their bikes stored in my garage for a couple of days to make some space for the R1 launch tomorrow night. I'm getting a set of tyres for my troubles. banana.gif

By the way, the winglet arrived today, tanks for that Andy. I'll have a go fitting it at the weekend.
