Wow youv'e been busy with a welder rolleyes.gif

I like the rear extenda good.gif although it might be a good idea to satin the finish, rather than the "shiny dazzle the dodo car driver behind scenario" (wouldn't want a bump up the rear) wink.gif

the modification to the screen (can i be honest here) whilst no doubt its functional, does not add beauty to your bike. unsure.gif

and the metal bashplate is rather large and imposing blink.gif huh.gif although NO doubt it will be effective.

sorry if i seem harsh its just my personal view, all power to you for doing the mods you require, they are just not for me smile.gif

P.S. i wouldn't want to head butt your Screen unsure.gif

lovely bike. they have a big ole fuel tank and long range capabilities i believe, i had a brand new XT 125 (LOL) back in 1991 and i always fancied anudder big single. is that kick and electric Alan, do ya still have it ??

Yea Wick i liked that bike comfy like a armchair the tank was 23ltr could get 286miles out of it.i didnt want the blue one and couldnt get a red/white at the time in uk so got that import.
that model only had a electric start but a kickstart could be fitted off a XT600 cause same engine,Na aint got it anymore sad.gif i paid £1100 for it and 7 years later sold it for same price. smile.gif

Its the bike i would choose if i was doing a RTW cause its a simple air cooled engine with no electonics gizzmo's on it just CDi and a couple of relays.

Oh i dropped it once with full tank of petrol managed to pick it up hurt my back though, but dropped TDM other day in car park slippery surface broken indicator stalk and lens but couldnt lift that bike friggin to heavy.
But you can see where the early TDM's got there design from the XT600ZE/750XTZ
thats how i ended up with a TDM cause i had a Thundercat and wanted the comfy of the Tenere but the handling of a Thundercat so the TDM was the bike i needed yahoo.gif

Harrr, no: that were the early "naked" ones. They real ones, ya-kno' rolleyes.gif

I've got one like that in the garage, took me safely to Benim and back. cool.gif
I believe it's actually 32 litres, but just give me an additional 2 litres of liquid and I will take care of it laugh.gif

now for the likes of TDMTam (with non standard yam bar weights)

suzuki kindly provide you with these (and the longer screw) that you fit in between your weight and the bars to give you the portion to clip the guards on without cutting anything.

hope this helps good.gif

Nice work Amarko. Could you just explain how these adapters work? I'm assuming you can't use them and the longer screw with the standard Yam bar weights (otherwise you would have saved yourself the bag of chips and the rollies blink.gif ) But could I avoid the cutting malarky by buying a set of non-standard bar weights and using these adapters? unsure.gif Ta

Looks nice indeed, just not sure about the year/model. The one after the first generation had a high-up mudguard (looking at the "chin" of the fairing this one has had one too in some stage, assuming the bike is not a complete collection of arbitrary bits). These ones tended to overheat and blow the headgasket. Later ones had heavily slotted mudguards and extra bolt in the head. Iirc, the oil cooler was moved as well to catch more wind (mine's got one at the side).

In other words, if you see any one of those from around 86 or 87 (I don't remember the exact years, at my age any year is one too many rolleyes.gif ) you need to be cautious you don't get a "weak" one, or maybe even one that's blowing the gasket already huh.gif

They look great! I've been thinking about giving this a go and having seen your pics I'm convinced! Anything tricky?

I dont think you would find any of the expanding bar end weights to fit the standard yam bars (as they have a threaded plug welded in the bar ends) although i could be wrong wink.gif

the lathe work should not cost much if you find a local machinist or ask friends / family if they know of one good.gif probably cheaper than aftermarked end weights wink.gif
