Just this minute got a phone call from Endo's girlfriend:
He has bust a bone in his knee and is being operated on tonight or tomorrow. Doesnt sound bad but he is likley to be in for a few days.
Thanks for that Paul glad to hear the news (although any broken bone is not nice news) I felt really guilty once he was in the ambulance and all alone "in a foreign land"

steve my brother so far has a bruised posterior, and knackered bike (fairings and tail piece trashed , rad busted, exhaust knackered, engine cases ground) thats just for starters.
his helmet that he knocked off the chair at hawes did the job though (but it too is now defunkt, as is his jacket that got ripped. thanks to the back protector he recently got at lidl that he is not more seriously hurt.
he lost the front in a gouge in the road as he was caught with a sideways gust of wind that developed ontop of hartside. approx 70 -80mph at the time

i think you are a very very lucky man... that crash had all the ingredients to be a lot worse! and it should act as a reminder to us all to chill out, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery.... NOT try to become part of it!
mini-rant over!
lets go for another rideout soon. great bikes, great and challenging roads, nice people
stay safe

Hear, hear! Maybe I'll lead on the Merseyside rideout, though that could cause a few boredom/sleep induced accidents

also sorry i didn't introduce myself to more of you, I'm the one on the really grubby 850 with topbox on. I had to take it steady on the way up as I had my son in tow and I didn't realise he hadn't got his bike gear with him until 10am saturday morning so was very conscious of having him on the back of me. My mate's XT tops out at about 70 as well (and takes a while getting there) so I had to keep in sight.
Seriously thinking of riding out to Hungary at the end of July for the Sirok bike week....2 days out, 3 days there, 2 days back. Don't know much about the bike week apart from it's held every year and I've got a house in Sirok

Hope to catch you all again soon.
Paul.

Had a look at the bike tonight and taken some pics, apologies for not being a photograher. Picture ten shows the worst of it.
Without being there it's hard to tell what happened, but it looks like the bike has gone into the sign on its left side, then flicked over onto its right and onto the wall. Is this about right?
In essence as far as sighted damage goes, most of it doesnt need immediate attention.
The left mirro needs replacing, as does teh right can, but the can is useable.
Needs a numberplate and holder and the rest appears to be cosmetic, apart from a ground-down lug on the wingrack.
Riding Impressions:
Here's where I'm not so confident, although Ive taken it up to teh ton and hit teh brakes pretty hard, without any real pulls either way or bad reactions. The bike dooesnt want to turn without hefty effort, however I havent checked teh tyre pressures, which it could well be down to.
Let go of the bars at 80 and she gets a bit of a very minor headshake going, but again this could be down to balance.
I would say its ok to ride back to Liverpool, however I'd be keen to firstly ensure the tyres at at correct pressures and ultimately get teh forks checked for what would be a very minor kink, if at all.
Im going to wait until Endo gets in touch, as obviously I dont want to start fiddling with someone elses bike

All the best to Endo, hope you're up and about soon.
I hope yer bruv is ok Amarko, and his bike, he should get some straight bars and a single headlight for it, it'd be lovely.
Well done to Paulb, you are a really sound bloke.

I'm sure when the lad gets himself sorted out various spares will be findable - e.g. I'm sure there's a mirror or 2 in the Pict-cave somewhere. Don't s'pose anybody picked up the missing bits of rear mudguard which looks clean broken?
