The way I see it, is that life's too short. Keep a smile on your chops and get the balance right. Work to live, don't live to work. There's always somebody worse off and someone better off than you. Get happiness from the simple things. Family, friends, health, countryside, fresh air, day and night. If anyone tries to knock you down, particularly from employment, then move on; there is absolutely always something else better out there. They are the one's with the problem, not you.

I have known so many people who I have worked with, who have changed jobs after years at the same company (through redundancy and otherwise) and have been scared of the big wide world after the comfort of a stable (but shitty and stressful) job. Every single one of them has been better off, not necessarily financially but more contented.

Move on, don't let them get you down. Life is too short not to be happy.
It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you've got.

I'm throwing a sickie today - essential maintenance needs to be done.

If I don't do it I can't get to work tomorrow - though they do say it's better to have 2 days off....hmmmm...what can I break tomorrow?

Glad to hear you're back with us wicky.
Reading this thread you don't have to be a brain surgeon, or a tree surgeon, to realise that a lot of jobs these days are pretty sh*t, you either have to get out, and possibly find a jobs that slightly less cr*p, or learn to live with the sh*t. To find someone who is 100% happy with their job, the pay, the working hours, the prospects, is becoming rare. Its a frame of mind thing - if your customers think you're doing a good job then take satisfaction from that, regardless of what the boss thinks. Some bosses are never satisfied regardless of what you do.

Look on the bright side, you've still got a job whereas some don't. My boss walked into my office last friday at 4:30 and told me I was redundant! You lucky fecker wicky. So if you need a third bloke for the tree felling business give me a call.
