Thursday. Day off. Wet day off too. Might even make a mug O tea, go take a tank off and see why this pipe is dribbling fuel over the crankcase.

Or.... might sell her and buy this: rotflmmfao.gif

1994 3VD. 16500 miles, all standard engine. (ipaq satnav/nonfango box)

Right, been on here before to ask about rough running and plugs coking up, went into emulsion tubes and stuff. Im now using my TDM to go to work every day and it's become a pain. In brief: Runs fine when opening the throttle wide but when trying to cruise or sift through traffic it feels and sounds like the choke is fully on (it's not). misfire and lumpy.

From full to empty, not reserve, empty i'm getting 116 miles. ranting.gif

Mmmm I guess its time for me to replace mine, similar symptoms although mpg isnt as bad, started as just the ocassional nmissing now pretty much through the mid rev range real pain, today went to a bike show in Thetford just when you want to use the grunt overtaking it bogs down, how long do these tubes last on average or does it depend of what type fitted, Factory Pro seem to be the ones to go for any thoughts ?

Cheers

Steve Mac

Bye the way moved from Edinburgh to Norfolk that would be a good run out to Thetford

Std Yam tubes made of (and I quote Dandy here I think) of Swiss cheese, Factory Pro ones nickel plated and more durable over stock

wear rate I dunno about really, seems a bit variable but fwiw

"Factory Pro manufactures replacement needle jets (called emulsion tubes by some) to original factory specs. The needle jet orifice wears oblong in as little as 5,000 miles and is particularly aggravated by "in town", low rpm operation. The result is excessive richness at low rpm that can be partially compensated for by lowering the fuel level." http://www.factorypro.com/

Opinion seems to be don't get the whole carb 'tuning' kit, just tubes will be fine

and we get discount at Straightline racing and they round corner from you!

As for life of the Yam originals, when we did ours I was on about 50k miles and I think Catsbum and Toneski's were both on around 30k miles, and our original Yam ones were well and truely shagged

Truth is, Im working 10 hrs a day, walking 12 miles as well and get home truly shagged.

This weekend I'm building a large shed so no time and to really top it off I got stopped yesterday lunchtime by a copper who told me I have a large nail sticking out of my rear tyre.... ranting.gif ranting.gif

Right in the middle so will try one of those can things,, any thoughts?

Yeah Id second that, spotted a tack in my tyre at he end of last summer had it plugged at local tyre gaff only cost me a fiver didn have a problem with it, but only had it done as it was in the centre of the tyre othrwise would have changed, local bike shop wouldnr plug it, suppose worried about litigation etc never used the canned stuff, but probably only use it if it was my only option stuck at the side of a road middle of the night pissing down sort of scenario.
