I'm 184 cm.

That explains alot! Your head is probably is the nice dead zone which I have around my neck...

I hope that I can return the screen, because it is almost the most expensive one of all options.

Reading it back made me rotflmmfao.gif too...

Well to keep on topic: The SECDEM is back to the store
I have tried the tall YAM screen again. And that isn't either. Much noise, buffeting and surprisingly this night, no protection of weather.

Anybody tried/ordered the (new) MRA DB screen?

Yes, AJ did:

QUOTE(AJ_Blizzard @ Sun 8th Jul 2007, 04:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
MRA Racing (double bubble) is a good screen, perfect fit and provides a good effect on headwinds; smoother airflow that hits me on upper chest/shoulders, less turbulence around the head. While riding I traffic (behind cars in 80 – 100 km/h) there's still some buffeting/turbulence, but far from what the Yamaha Touring screen was causing.

SECDEM double bubble looks nice (typical French?), is taller than MRA Vario (main screen, that is…), MRA Racing and Powerbronze double bubble and it's also slimmer/narrower on top than the others (take a look at the photos in this thread…).
SECDEM provides lesser wind pressure than MRA Racing and Powerbronze. The weather protection (rain...) is also fairly good. I didn't get big splashes of water on my helmet while riding in heavy rain. And I can't say I noticed any big difference on MRA Racing and Powerbronze even though they're not as tall as the SECDEM screen.

My experience so far is that double bubble screens of different height and width is the best solution for TDM. There are only minor differences between the screens I have been trying out.

I again would like to point out that it's not handy to compare any screen in windy conditions. With tailwind they usually seem very comfy, with headwind they seem to offer little protection, with crosswind they seem to offer noise and turbulence... any screen. This evening (just arrived) I rode home from a BBQ party, riding after midnight through a very calm and windstill night for about 50 minutes. Of course the Shoei Multitec helps (and the earplugs), but the MRA Vario was perfect tonight (for me). My helmet was in a smooth (no wind) clean blast of air, no turbulence or rumbling noise. When bringing the helmet lower I can hear the light rumble of the helmet entering the turbulent boundary layer from the screen, lift the helmet up to my normal position and it's smooth and comfy again while the screen keeps enough blast of my upper body and upper arms. This is with the spoiler absolutely flat on the screen. Great screen, I like it. And I also know there was a lot more noise when riding towards the BBQ in the late afternoon with a gusty head- / crosswind.

That having said, it's usually very obvious when your helmet is right in the turbulent boundary layer, especially with a steep angled screen. But even behind the perfect screen you'll encounter noise with gusty crosswinds and a pull on the arms with a strong headwind. A windstill evening (around or after sunset, so there aren't any unstabilizing thermal effects either) or in a long tunnel is the best way to compare. Still curious to try out Vincent's Secdem to see why and if that screen is more quiet than the MRA even though it's taller... if it wasn't for the fact that he hasn't got it anymore unsure.gif , I might have been interested in it (but probably the MRA Vario I have now is better for me).

AJ, since you're 1.84 (I somehow thought you were 1.90 m earlier) I think you might have your head just below the turbulent boundary layer with your secdem. The MRA Vario probably is more quiet when you lift your head up higher, at 1.84 I can see now that the MRA Vario is just a tiny bit too high for you even in the lowest setting. Similarly I'm guessing that the Secdem might be too high for me in the same way (can't try it out anymore...). If you lift your helmet higher behding the Secdem, does the noise then increase or decrease (I'm guessing increase)?

Likewise I'm thinking the stock TDM screen would be perfect for you. Less "protection" than the Secdem, but your helmet should be in the clean blast then. For me (1.90) the pull on the arms was just too much.

I had to return the screen within several days to get a refund. So I did. I'm pretty sure you should had better results than I did. I have mounted the MRA vario again and seize my quest for a screen for now. Money ran out on new clothing...

Another TDM900 screen option for those who like to experiment: http://www.eaglescreens.com.au

Can't find a pic, it comes in a standard, windflip and touring version. I'm convinced the MRA vario is best screen for me (if you're smaller than 1.90m it might not be), the only customization I can still think of for my TDM is the shortening of the rear fender.

I have an Ermax +150mm since the begining on the 9, it's OK in all conditions except buffeting behind cars on freeways.

Last week I fitted the oem screen for a test-ride and noticed riding above 140km/h was a real pain.
It obviousely gives a very different feeling about the real speed.
Anyway I didn't notice much difference on mountain roads.
