Aaarrggghhh! I've just seen a post elsewhere today where Tony says the dates are Friday 'til Monday. I was thinking of booking a ferry back to Ireland on Sunday evening. Is anything planned for Sunday? I've never done one before so I don't know what to expect (except grown men (and ladies?) behaving badly). Should I stay Sunday night?

what time is the ferry on sunday evening ??? if it's reasonably late in the day, a run on the sunday could easily be programmed to end up pointing you towards stranraer (i assume your ferry is from there ??)

Thanks Mark for the offer. Since I have to ride from the west coast of Ireland I was planning to take the ferry from Dublin to Hollyhead which splits my journey into two more equal bits than driving from Kerry to Belfast then Stranraer to Newcastle. The return ferry from Hollyhead is mid afternoon so would mean leaving after a decent breakfast. I can book for Monday. Maybe I should re-think the Belfast /Stranraer ferry. Whichever way I go I have to fit in an overnight stay on the Irish side.

Tony attached two routes.

"septg2g" - which is the route from my gaff to bellingham, which might be of interest for west yorkshire attendees, or perhaps southern chaps who want to do the last bit through the yorkshire dales rather than straight up the A1.

"g2grideout" is the route described by ynotT. I have had to make a couple of guesstimates, particularly to location of the cafe on st marys loch.

See you there, if you fancy the dales route, we could perhaps meet up in Skipton about lunchtime and ride up as a group.

ps Thanks TonyD

Could somebody PM me a mobi. number to keep in touch with the Skipton option, as I'm trying to work a compromise between riding up / looking in on the meet and visiting my cousin in Galashiels over the weekend? SWMBO has not had sight of this yet, though!

There will be a police presence but more for escort and road safety purposes I would think. The organisers are hoping for over 1000 bikes which will cause mayhem on the proposed route.

Avoiding the area would be a good idea unless anyone wants to join a parade.

The Hizzy rideout is usually pretty well attended - might be a thought about going to it on the Sunday, in fact I'll probably pop by it anyway on my way back.

Yea, nice cake. I don't think the people meditating were too happy with us on 2 TDMs, it'd be even funnier with 15 of them all together.
