This is the 1st one I've had anything to do with but going on other bike clubs rides is to get a steady rider that ride's at around the speed limit out front and that knows the route (Landy?? Sorry havent asked you yet rolleyes.gif ) Then let the faster ones leave 5-10 mins after the rest and then all should be fine.

Then the steady ones will have a nice steady ride and the head bangers (Me inc rolleyes.gif ) can ride faster without upsetting or being a danger to the rest so there won't be any need to pull stooped overtaking stunts excl.gif If I feel I want too go faster I'll slow down then have my fun catching up, Not try and overtake everybody and zoom off ahead

And will also be there to help pick up stragglers! tongue.gif

Also from chatting to other clubs sometime things go wrong cos there are too many meeting points and to many rules about the ride blink.gif . The only person that dosn't get overtook is the person leading??

Any comment's on this??

Agreed about passing on footage (pretty much anyway). But otherwise, basically ignore everything until they get hurt, or worse still when they take-out some other poor innocent sole? No thanks, I'd go for having a gentle word, what's the worst that can happen... Whatever it is it's probably not as bad as being taken-out.

It's not so much the organisation, it's the people actually doing the ride. So, judging on the fundamentally sensible TDM types I've met before, I think there's a pretty good chance all will go very well. Here's hoping...

Just to touch on the subject of bike to bike radios, I see already that a few of you are equipped.

Varadero guy (with me) and I also have bike to bike pmr radios, so we should have enough cover to provide radios and each end and some in the middle of the group (assuming 1 group), or at least one radio in each group (assuming slow, med and fast groups). If we have a number of people chatting between themselves in different groups it may be an idea to use a separate channel for each group to avoid confusion, with each group obviously being aware of the other groups channel(s) for emergency contact if needed. Anyone got any thoughts?

We can sort out on the day what's best regarding group order, but as JG has already said, it may be an idea to have the fast boys at the back giving the others a head start provided they can show a degree of restraint when they catch up with the slower riders. At least if they have radio contact they can give a warning of their approach! If we put the slowest at the front it will help to keep the speeds down for those who wish to take things easy and (hopefully) remove some of the temptation to try to keep up if you're a slower rider (like me!). It would be nice to regroup for the slow rides through built up areas and that would be the easiest way of doing it.

Don't want to spoil anybody's fun, but I do ask that whether we're riding slow or quick we consider the experience levels and pace of those around us.

Guys,

Dunno about you lot, but it seems to me that the "organising" bit seems to be taking over from the actual "meet and have a ride" bit.

Can I politely suggest we just meet up and take it all as it comes?

Faster riders and slower rider ALL need to be aware of whats going on around them, ALL the time, not just cos its a TDM G2G.

You'll find that most of the Carpe lot are pretty good riders JG, ( they should be, most of the feckers have been riding for long enough ).
& no one has any bother about overtaking - as long as it's done safely & doesn't compromise other riders safety.
You just go out & do your own ride & I'm sure everything will be just fine.

We're looking forward to it even more after we pulled out of the Avebury meet this weekend (Thank feck I never went camping ! )

Can do.

Just be aware that my partner and I may be riding both my TRX and TDM to this run, and as a new rider, she probably isn't going to be the quickest, and riding on the left is still strange for her. But in principle, no objections.

Contact me nearer the time for a meeting point (suggest the big service area where the A1 crosses the A605?)
