The bike is running. They worked on her overnight and he is now coming back from Luton. No oil leak. Output shaft seal I believe.
He's going!

photos should be fixed now too
ok, story update....
the replacement engine thats now in my bike was actually Guinness' old mk1 that hutch bought earlier in the year
It needed a new output shaft, i gave all the engine and all parts required to Jenna at RaidXtreme (they pretty much run the Super Tenere XTZ750 website/owners club)
they rebuilt it and i had delivered it to Hutch but we hadnt got round to installing it yet (hence why he is on his TRX)
after the mess up with Wemoto feckin up my order i decided to cut my losses and leave it be, Hutch offered me his TDM engine
a quick road trip on Wednesday night had the engine collected and delivered to JHTs
Thursday lunchtime we started the strip and rebuild of my bike
engine was installed and i rode home at around 11pm
back to JHTs on Friday morning for a pootle round to run the engine in
on the way there lots of smoke, i had done approx 25miles on it
the oil was leaking from 2 places, the starter motor o-ring/oil seal and the input shaft cover (the round thing with an o-ring that cats has pictured above)
replaced both but no luck, there was WAY too much oil pressure behind the input shaft seal and it was actually pushing it out
we admitted defeat lastnight (friday) at around 6pm
phoned bennetts assist and had the bike recovered and delivered to RaidXtreme
the recovery guy got stuck on the motorway, his truck broke down (electrics failure) and it was delayed in being delivered
(turns out it was the 3rd truck the guy had issues with in his 12hours shift
anyway......Jenna at RaidXtreme spent until 4am stripping the bike/engine
she gave up at 4am and grabbed some kip before resuming a couple of hours later
we arrived there at 10am this morning after being stuck in the Silverstone traffic for a few hours to find a complete TDM sitting there
its was done! she had rebuilt it overnight and replaced the input shaft seal and the gearbox fork arm rod
i took it a for a 'spirited' test ride
rode it the 100miles-ish home and still a good un
for info....
there is an oil feed coming out from the crankcase and input the output shaft bearing
from there it goes through the input shaft seal and into the gearbox fork selectors, this then has 4 very small pin holes(which is assumed where the blockage was, most likely caused by gasket goo)
which puts the oil back into the main body of the motor
now i gotta do an oil filter change, pack my stuff up and then we are good to go
thanks to Jenna for rebuilding it so quickly
thanks to Cats for his assistance and humour keeping me sane
main thanks goes to JHT, the man is a god! i owe you big time matey!
he spent 2 full days helping me switch the engines and fault diagnosis (and even dropping me home last night)
we had long exhausted the supply of cake
i'm sorry to his missus for delaying him so long
hope you have a good time with nipper today matey
now, about that early night........
ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.................
moral of the story never give up! dont let the bastards grind you downtheres always a chance to get it fixed, especially with friends like those on carpe and a healthy supply of cake/curry/coffee!

cleaned the thread up and 638'd the fecker in
refilled the oil and took her for a spin (wheres the fingers crossed emote gone
come back and cant see any leak from the filter housing *phew*
i did notice a leak slight weep from the rocker cover tho
nipped those up and cleaned it, not been for a test ride yet tho....cant take anymore today, i'm now sitting down with a Jamesons and a smoke

I call it: The debris trail. Sort of sums the day up.

Then this evening dropped a box of bolts off to Tony, Hutch was there and so was his bike.
If I was 2 stone lighter......

See you guys tomorrow. 6am?

not quite on the same scale as your engine woes, but still a pain in the arse.
thing is, i actually went into the garage to strip the water pump and change the o rings cos that has been leaking for a while, that will have to wait till next weekend now.

the weep continued for the entire RTT, i thought initially that it was load based but it seems to loose the same amount no matter how i ride it
it took 300ml of oil for 2000miles, that i can live with, its still leaking less than my old engine burnt
JHT discovered why its leaking, other than the engine rebuilders using gasket goo everywhere other than the halfmoons
the anthena gasket for the rocker cover is shite (photos to follow when my broadband is up again)
basically the aftermarket gasket doesnt fit properly, one side of it is actually too long which means the seal isnt very good
we've checked this with 2 new gasket sets and a yammie one
my advice.....use yammie gen-you-wine rocker cover gaskets not aftermarket
on the plus side, the engine is sweet as
i've riden a few TDMs and this is by far the most powerful engine out the lot
dunno what the guy who rebuilt it 10,000kms ago did to it (G got any idea?)
but it lifts the wheel in 1st&2nd on the power and 3rd if given a bit of a bump in the road
i guess that explains the state of my rear tyre (i've even worn the PR2 logo off both edges
i've also discovered what killed my sidestand
where the sidestand touches the y-piece the ground clearence is slightly reduced
when its lent right over the sidestand gets pushed in a bit and its bent the sidestand where the bolt goes through and also made the bolt
hole in the frame too large, hence the lean angle on the sidestand and me needing a 2inch puck when the bike is stood on flat ground
guess i better stop slamming it into left handers then

engine degunked, 2000miles of RTT road shit and another 600miles since, all of them with the engine covered in oil
meant there was a fair amount of baked on crud
cleaned all the gasket sealent out from the rocker cover
add a wee bit of evostick to hold the gasket in place while fitting
a smidge of sealent around the half moons
a quick checkin with JHTs mechanical woe callcentre based in
has been done and its back together
started her up and let her run for a few mins to burn off the degreasent and no oil is escaping that i can see
too late to test ride tonight, so the commute to work (its only about 10miles tomorrow) can be the test run
off to storms tomorrow evening for a bit of welding, coz the way my sidestand is currently i may as well just lay
the bike on the ground
then hopefully over to Alton cafe for a bite to eat
ps. JHT took her for a ride earlier, i think he likes the engine

See open rocker cover surgery aint that difficult eh!
but beware the blue gunge.......

and yes, that motor is sweet....

lets just say that i found the bikes appearance belies its overall performance on my short blat, classic little street sleeper that one

To do: Educate homo sap nav system to operate twisty + grabby things/ get ear plugs
Remember every driver is a deaf myoptic twat who is out to kill you, ALWAYS assume they are going to do THE most f*cking DUMBASS, STUPID manouver possible, at the worst possible moment; get past, and get past quick

and my pride and joy is performing in it.
dunno what the guy did to it. the top end was rebuilt and the carbs where done...
everytime he did the carbs it flew like a bat out of hell, he's a ducati/cagiva mechanic and he used to race and now does the mechanics for a/his team.
but his apprentice made too many little mistakes on my bike. plus the outputshaftbendingwasherthing = loose Front Sprocket Nut, that kinda did it for me.
