Hello again folks.

I haven't posted for a wee while so you may not remember who I am. Basically, I am the owner of the worst example of a 4TXL TDM850. Furthermore, I am the best example of how not to be when buying a bike second hand. As surely as if I'd gone in to a fruit shop and bought the biggest bag of lemons, I've done something very similar with this bike. laugh.gif

I'm looking for some advice, basically, it failed its MOT, I expected it would but not with quite so much enthusiasm. In amongst other things, my biggest concern is the monoshock: its a goner. It says there's a seal failed and leaking oil, I've been reading around (here and at BCF, my normal virtual stomping ground for bike stuff) and as far as I can gather, I can buy a new hagon or Betor or I can have this one rebuilt.

I'm not sure whats on it just now, the spring is blue but I can't tell if its original or not. I read here that a guy in Glasgow can rebuild original TDM shocks, (I'm not a million miles away from 'just outside Glasgow') so this seems to be my best bet... Or does it?

I've ordered bearings all round front and back and the rest is mostly adjustment (apart from the new front tire which didn't arrive on time...) The only other vexing thing is my exhaust; its too noisy. Its a 2-1 micron thingy, I have no baffles, how can I tone it down a bit? I've also lost the bracket thingy that held it to the rear foot peg doofer, (its being held on, I think rather tastefully, by a bit of coat hanger...) There used to be a wee bar with two threaded holes, two allen key bolts went through the foot peg heehaw and screwed into this wee bar which sat under a bracket doohickey on the exhaust.

Sorry, not fully up on motorbike terminology. blink.gif

So opinions, rebuild the monoshock or not? And, about the exhaust, how to calm it down... It has made small children cry... mellow.gif

Thanks in advance.

Blue spring - doesn't sound like an OEM Yam shock
Has it a lever on the top of the shock that rotates between S & H
Most shocks can be rebuilt

Try micron themselves for the baffles, and bracket

Mmm... Been looking around online, looks like it might be an EMC shock so probably worth getting it rebuilt.

Also, Micron have gone bust... I think I'll need to get a new bit of metal made up or modify some existing bits.

Cheers
