Arrrrrgggggghhhhh, was my first thought, because 22:00 in the freezing cold is not a time to be having electrical problems.
The bike souls start and run fine, but turn the bars and it killed the power.
First session of write wiggling suggested there was a broken wire at the ignition switch but that seemed implausible.
Further sessions showed it was a problem somewhere after the wires disappeared into the frame.
So, fairing, seat, tank, air box off and, well at least I didn't have to crack out the multi meter.

Long story short, I had to bodge it together with a male spade connector a female bullet connector zip ties and tape.

Put it all back together turned it on press the button and........
Crank but no start.
Look at the dash and see the dreaded error 19.
So seeing as how it had served me well earlier I said Arrrrrgggggghhhhh again.
Fearing the worst of more broken wires due to disturbing an old and brittle loom and it being 01: 15 by now, I called the RAC and went home.
Got around to having a look at it today and found all the connectors were corroded. Separated them all, soaked them with duck oil, give them a few connect disconnect cycles and hey presto, error code cleared and bike started first time.
So what have I learned from this?
Well firstly, if you don't have any problems like this check these connectors before you do.
Secondly, don't panic, it might not be as bad a you think

How many miles are on that beast? It seems to have a lot of corrosion, is it a commute bike?

Have you ever lent someone 20 quid and never seen it again? It was probably worth it.

Which brings me to my block connector topic 2 week ago. Some really helpful replys there.
I agree clean what connectors you possibly can. Been on ACF 50 web & it seems to be the bees knees.
You should see where the reg/rectifier is on my Fazer. Just in front of my right foot. In cowpat Cumbria. Jeeez!!!!!. ranting.gif
Suppose its easy to get at though. good.gif

Used almost everyday and commutes 450 miles every week.
Its usually much cleaner but it ain't been washed for a fortnight.
