When I bought the bike off Steve it came with an MRA screen and airfoil. Although it was a massive improvement on the standard screen I had decided to try a Givi Airflow adjustable screen.
Only issue is that the Airflow is only available to certain bikes and the TDM900 isn't one of them. Found out through various forums that Givi sell all the bits as spares so decided to take the plunge.
First thing was to buy a std screen which I picked up on ebay for £20. Ordered the Givi bits off ebay and they arrived next day for total cost of just under £60.
So here's a short rundown on the fitting in case anyone else feels the urge.
This is what you get. Airflow screen and fittings to attach it to the original screen.
First thing is to mask up the area where you are going to drill. I hadn't got any decent masking tape so used duct tape.
I then loose fitted the fittings and measured the distance between centres.
Marked the screen centre line and then made a template of the basic distances on paper and transferred them onto screen.
Once that was done its just a case of drilling the 2 mail holes. These are 20mm dia and it was the only thing that caused a problem as I didn't have a 20mm dill or step drill etc. I made do with a smaller step drill that went up to 12mm and then opened the hole using a rotary grinder (with great care!!!!!)
I fitted the parts to line them up and slid in the screen to make sure they were in the correct orientation and then drilled the 2 smaller holes that hold things to the screen.
The screen slides in and is clamped in place from the rear.
This is the lowest setting ......
... and this is the highest
Haven't had a chance to get out yet and I'm away all day tomorrow so looks like friday. Will let you know how it goes.
