mmm. Not a pleasant thing to come across.

So this has now got me thinking I had better grease mine. Is there a schematic or a methodology for greasing the suspension linkage? Or, if no issues, this is a fairly straight forward job?

straightforward job. Support wheel undo the bolts, push out the sleeves apply grease to the needle rollers put them back. The only one that might give trouble is the bottom one attached to the frame.

Ok - so this is where I am at.

All bolts removed, thought the swingarm dogbone side is now loose but haven't removed yet. The two bushes that we can get to are fine, the rollers seem fine.

I now know what everyone else has been saying! How do I even start to remove the frame side bush?? I can't get a purchase on it, the section where it mates with the t'other side is to smooth go get any purchase on...

The condition of everything is ok other than a little bit of surface rust on the steel bolt and in the bush.

Currently I have left it with some ACF 50 on the outer side for the hell of it before I try and see how to get a purchase to exert some force....

You can download a copy of the service manual from JBX's site. :)  You'll need to register before you can download, but it's free.

Wahey!

I need to check the torque to see what my "Bloody Tight" equates to, but apart from about 1 hour to go get the Rawl bolt and use it to extract, job was fairly straight forward.

This was on a '07 with 16k on the clock and that was as awkward as I would want it to be. So if you HAVEN'T done this yet and you don't know the provenance, I suggest you start thinking about it. If I had to commute and especially through the winter, I can guarantee this would have been a lot worse.

PS - if the eagle-eyed amongst you spot something not quite right with the boike, it is deliberate because it is coming off right now.

well done M0rt, yours was reasonably free. ChrisR's was in there tighter than a nuns chuff.

All my efforts at pulling it out with expanding tools failed.

Hope you was generous with the grease putting it back.

had a look at the suspension linkage while I washed the bike down. Looks to be plenty of chain oil fling there to coat the general area, so I hope that's protecting it.

I certainly would'nt bank on it, mines also had a scottoiler since before i owned it with, plenty of fling and that collar is stuck fast mate, a visual inspection wont cut it.
