Installed a gear indicator in the rev counter. Looked at JBX's site. One thing to note, it's 1st & 2nd connected on the gear position sensor not 2nd & 3rd.

Rolfie and yours odd one's out then !

Ohlins, PC3, fuel cut defeat, +4deg timing, 17" front wheel.

This is the back story.

RolfieB followed JBX's instructions and fitted a gear indicator.

He had loads of bits left over and offered them to me.

Within two weeks I had done the conversion myself.

We both found and agreed that gears 1 & 2 were connected and NOT 2 & 3.

We were both on the alert.

RolfieB had a Mk2a and I had a Mk2.

There was no room for confusion.

So in terms of votes cast though.....JBX x1 and me x2   for 2&3

needs more voters obviously yet, but hey ho....maybe there was a tech bulletin issued to change the wire position following a discovered error ?

Additional back story

Both RolfieB and myself contacted JBX and he suggested that the diagram should have shown 1-N-2 but that meant drawing wires across wires, most likely leading to the drawing being made in error.

I think you'll find that JBX = abstention

Me + RolfieB = x2

Yourself = x1

Myself x2...... I showed two different switches, one in the bike, one I removed already from another.... A draw at best and the polls don't shut for hours

I didn't read where JBX had some doubt, though I might have missed it, but his photo only shows gear 2&3 connected

Quote JBX "The gearbox sensor is used to sense the 2 and 3 gear positions. ."

Well duh  :locco:

Didn't I just explain that to you?

Both RolfieB + Myself (as one), confirmed with JBX that the photo had likely been annotated in error.

There is no confusion.

I barely recall this situation, JBX most likely won't recall either. It was such a long time ago.

Odd though, that I should discover a thread that bought it all back to the fore though isn't it?

You did read it didn't you?

Ah so your theory now is that someone changed the two I have here so they didn't match yours ?

OKAY GUYS, joke over, who swapped the wires ?

No joking. I'd place anything that RolfieB says/does/suggests, over anything you offer.

That's good enough for me.

So you still can't find out which is right and which is wrong that way....but okay, that's how you likes it.....

That did not fare well. The work he did for me was to say the least not good. Lee Henty came & had a look for me, as I started having issues with the clocks. Basically had to junk it all.

In the end I bought a set of clocks & sensor. Then did it myself sometime later. Was definately 1st n second.

Not sure if I still have the photos on puter to load onto photobucket again. Will have a look.

Fuken love you

But you're still not right !

Put your tool down and think about what we DO NOT KNOW !

We don't know what the wires are for really, other than confirming that performance is improved when they're disconnected

SHOULD they be on 1 & 2 ?

SHOULD they be on 2 & 3  ?

YOU DON'T KNOW !

I was simply suggesting that if we don't know then we can't say much for sure. You have just assumed yours must be correct.

I'm not disputing anything you have said either.....was just trying to keep an open mind but....DON'T FORGET...we have taken them off........hahahaha...it only matters where they go if we want to put them back 'CORRECTLY'

Photos of the sensor have gone to the great dark room in the sky. Sure someone else did the same mod not so long ago.

I was thinking of the "recent mod" you mentioned earlier. This wan possibly, that belonged to Gasman?
