sorry to be a pain but I thought there was a step by step guide on changing the battery on a MK2, but I can only find one for the 900.

Any help??? or do I have to right my own rolleyes.gif

Mad Dog, there is an easy way.

undo the +ve and -ve battery leads going to area uder seat, red goes to the starter rely, black goes to chassis earth. Remove the right hand side rear peg hanger, unscrew the battery cover on both side of battery box. battery box and leads slip out right hand side of rear shock. Replace method is in reverse.

no need to remove rear wheel or hugger.

I'll see if I can find earlier link I posted a couple of years ago.

Found it. http://www.carpe-tdm...battery removal

I've just done mine today...I have to say I'll be replacing those cheesy cross head fasteners with stainless hex heads for the battery lead terminals on the frame and starter solenoid. I didn't take my hanger off, just the rear master cylinder and rear brake light switch, which I suppose amounts to the same thing..

Cheers

You're absolutely spot on.. Yamaha's choice of fasteners seems to be to include the cheesiest lump of metal and stamp a cross head into it and call it a 'cross head' bolt. I routinely replace fasteners with something from my jewellery box of blingy stainless nuts and bolts. It's a lot cheaper than you think. I got my Kawasaki engine set from the below link for £10 inc postage instead of a UK equiv of £35.. As America's dollar is pants at the mo and steal is in abundance there, i guess its cheaper to source your jewellery from there.
