Dear peeps....

I'm looking to replace the 900's OE silencers with alternatives which must be...

Not modifying the original pipework

Compatible with OE mainstand

Lighter than OE (shouldn't be too difficult  )

Stainless steel construction (prefer polished finish)

Not deafening/antisocial :punishment:or with a selection of non-ejecting type baffles

Clear of the Givi E22/E35(6)/E45 panniers when fitted

Not reducing service access to rear wheel/chain adjustment

Not reducing ground clearance

CE or BSI stamped (well er preferably)

So, who amongst us has such a system fitted, cos I've searched past posts in vain?

TIA

I had Fuel exhaust on mine. Cleared the Givi panniers, sounded good and would recommend

My Scorpions also fit the bill, though there's no stop for the centrestand, I think the fuels have one.

I'm well pleased with my Ixil 2into1 got 2nd-hand from Ramo on here. It's a quality piece of work.

The only detail I'm not sure of is the fitting with a centre stand since I don't have one. There is no bumper fitted. The fitting instructions do not say to remove a centre stand. The kit is a straight slip-on fit onto the front pipes.

Givi rack shown is for E21s which fit great. Chain access cannot be beaten, of course.

Pix may help - ask for more or pose Qs if needed.

EDIT - E21s replacing E22s above - finger bounce!

Many thanks for your helpful & speedy replies - there are indeed many previous posts about exhausts, but, I could find none or no combination of posts which specifically answered my criteria. I have had a look at the Fuel website images and it has a picture with a pannier fitted (not one I recognise). This pannier looks very very close to the silencer. I have had exhaust heat destroy the base of a Craven(glassfibre)pannier and melt my sleeping bag and toothbrush together (1980 hacking through the Lyon traffic heading for the eye-watering, throat cramping & infamously poorly ventilated tunnel), I am cautious about the proximity of expensive Givi plastic & hot gases/metal. Anyone got or wouldn't mind taking & posting a pic of their Fuel silencers with Givi E45 & or E22 fitted please? BTW I have mine fitted with a wingrack not tubular frames if there is a locational difference (I don't know). Thanks again. Favs

What about self adhesive aluminium tape on the underside of vulnerable panniers, to reflect the heat ?

Hi Favs,

You might also want to consider Simmi cans - they meet all the criteria you've stated including OE centre stand bump stop and as long as you order the 400mm cans, they also fit under E22s with no heat problems.

Just a thought.  :)

I've got Fuels's with the PL whatever side racks and use E22's and E35's with no issue, plenty of clearance.

It was a toss up between Fuels and MTC but the MTC's didn't have a center stand stop (though I understand they now do) and in the end I found a cheap pair of Fuels on e-bay.

1992 Mk1, 76k miles, Hagon springs, MTC exhaust, 4½ gears Gone now :(
2009 900 abs, 42k miles, Yamaha heated grips, double bubble screen, R&G crash bungs, scottoiler, Autocom, 1500 lumen LED spotlights.

I've had Laser Duo Techs on both of mine and although they were quite close I never had a problem with heat with my E21's although I did fit some heat reflective tape. I've just replaced the panniers with the E22 model and they give even more clearance.

The Duo techs have two positions but I've always kept them at the highest setting and they fulfill all your other requirements - pretty expensive now though, nearly double the Fuels IIRC but they have lasted 10 years, 2 bikes and about 60 - 70,000 miles.

Favs email Fuel Exhausts direct. They have pictures they dont put on the web and they are very very helpful.Attached File  2011-08-08 14.21.47.jpg   222.49KB   0 downloads

I have a Fuel Diablo on the Tiumph & there will be one on the SV when I recover financially frim Christmas

They sound exactly the same as road legal Remus ones at a fraction of the price.
