So I'm looking at either vario footpegs or some way for raising the ride hight or even both so my legs are more straight?
Any advice out there ......

Going to watch this one with interest, as I have a knee replacement and whilst its not too much of an issue, I did find the Tracer so much better on the knees.

I've researched this with limited success, appears the vario is the only option far as i can tell, however the metal footpegs put me off as i like a bit of rubber on mine, and short of going around a 2nd hand dealer and measuring footpegs to find a suitable alternative looks like the vario's are the way forward.

What about the dog-bones.
Do they exist to raise the ride height instead of reduce it?

Dog bones wont alter the height between seat and footpeg.

There was a TDM for sale on eBay recently with ( what I thought was a good idea ) engine bars fitted and some fold out foot pegs had been fitted to the crash bars,so motorway riding became more motorway cruising "Harley" style ......
Just a though ??

I've got the Vario footpegs with about a 1" drop, and shortened dogbones, which means the saddle is higher but the footpegs are still about the standard height off the ground, so I've got a bit more legroom without sacrificing ground clearance. Bear in mind with the Vario's you buy 3 parts, the bracket, the extension plate and the footpeg. I've got the middle one of the extension lengths (about 1") and metal footpegs, no problems with vibration or grip on them.
Forgot to say...
Dropping the gear lever was no issue but I can't drop the brake lever quite as far as I'd like without it catching on my exhaust (aftermarket Fuel), this means the brake lever is slightly higher than it ought to be for my foot angle, and if I spend a long time riding on twisties when I'm not used to it my ankle/shin can get a bit sore as I'm having to lift my toes up higher than normal to get my foot on the brake.

Hi, how do you shorten dogbones? thanks.
Posted 06 November 2015 - 03:43 pm
You don't.
You have to fit shorter ones.
Let me know if you want some bespoke ones.
Thanks .Looking at some £20 ish on ebay from germany. should lift rear 35mm ? And besides all practical advantages "the visual improvement is enormous" ...how could you resist..

Fit some gert crash bars loike the ones Rafal (the Polish chap) fabricates and add some 'hi way' pegs for those long straights that require no foot controls. Kelpie 'MintyHippo' used to have a proper peg lowering kit fitted to his 900. If ya do a search it may unearth the brand he used.
