Aside from cosmetics, my experience was that they give a smoother throttle response and nicely reduced engine braking. I doubt there's a great deal of power gain.

Have to agree. Also a lot nicer exhaust note
I have noticed - its just probably me, but the stalling I had with the original cans seems to have gone. Previously would travel between 1 mile and 5 miles pull up at light and engine would cut out, hasnt happened since fitted the new cans.

Also I have lined them up now. Might do the airbox mod next.

Has anybody got the fuel cans fitted with standard Givi 46 ltr panniers?

Need to find out before they run out of stock. Fuel are great but they just say 'no' in my experience if you ask if they'll fit with luggage - but i know that my 9'er had CCC exhausts which are angled up in a similar way and they fitted fine.

Any ideas folks?

Pretty sure that Beebs has his fitted with givi panniers, however not sure if they are 46l or 36l, I will send him a text and get him to look in !

I carried (borrowed) 36L's with me around Scotland and they were no problem at all. I own E21's.

However I've just put the 52L Maxia on the side, and I can't see any reason why there'd be a problem with that - so 46L's should be fine.

PS Thanks for the text Fi, I thought you'd run out of credit it's been so long biggrin.gif

PPS I love my Fuel cans. An increase of 20 miles on the tank range and a lovely sound. Lovely pops and splutters on the over-run... Seems a shame to wear ear plugs smile.gif

The 45 litre panniers are the same dimensions, as the 36l, only wider (as fitted on bike) by 6cm. So if the 36's fit then the 45's should too.

My Fuel cans have just arrived yahoo.gif along with the wettest weather for a while, so currently they are sat in the living room, along with the new number plate and front fender extender. Awaiting a nice sunny day to fit the lot. Before and after pics will follow.

No one mentioned the nice little bar of Kendal mint cake in with the cans, nice touch from Fuel that.

So today I fitted the Fuels cans, front fender extender, new number plate and adjusted the gear lever so that I can actually use it with my new boots.
As usual I forgot to take pics as I was going, this usually happens once I get tools in my hands (fnarr, nick says it all really). So here is pic taken a few weeks ago..

... and today after finishing.

Must admit, after fitting the other halfs MTC cans on her XT last week, the Fuels where a doddle to fit and position.

Few more pics..

You have to look closely but the plate has got the forums addy along the bottom.

And finally the other half received her "I'm so sowy officer it won't happen again" T-Shirt from the XT660 Forum.

All in all a good day of fettling yahoo.gif
