I've always been told that. Too much amperage, slight chance of your bike battery going bang.

Morning folks

I haven't done much with the TDM in the past few weeks, however today I did buy an R6 fuel pump off Ebay today for £26 plus postage. So I'm going to have a fiddle around with that for a wee while - occasionally referring to the good folk of Carpe for assistance.

Hmmm.

To be honest, you might as well come round and fit it for me Studley - it would be far quicker for you :-)

tbh, I'm not gonna be mush help to ya on this one Snorv, I've never fitted a leccy pump to a mk1. :dunno:

However, there are other Carpedians who possess the knowledge & experience you so desire.........probably. :)

Maybe start a noo topic about the leccy pump ? There's also a 'How to' in the KB.

How difficult can it be? (as he runs screaming from the shed in a ball of flame)

However, there are other Carpedians who possess the knowledge & experience you so desire.........probably. :)

I'm counting on it. Are you listening Carpedians? Don't all run away now.

Maybe start a noo topic about the leccy pump ?

I was just thinking of renaming this one 'the trials and tribulations of Snorvey's TDM850.....'. Thinking about it, we should all have a personal thread for our bikes - it allows us to reflect on the can of worms that sounded like a good idea when we handed over the purchase money.

There's also a 'How to' in the KB.

Oh yes. There lies my inspiration and my instruction.....

Many thinks - in advance of course.

Only on page 4 of this particular trial and tribulation - there have been others!

Anyway, I had a package delivered to the work today - the mild aroma of petrol had the lassie on the front desk somewhat concerned. Not helped when I shouted 'BANG' when I open it :-)

The fuel pump is here. If you see a pall of smoke rising in the north, don't worry. S'just me.

I fitted an electric pump to my MK1 when I rebuilt it. I used a relay wired to a switched live, I can't remember, the colour of it, but testing with the multimeter found a wire which was only live when the run switch was on. I welded a bracket up to allow me to fit the electric pump where it is on a MK2 (under the bracket where the rear of the tank bolts down). After sorting out some initial issues with float levels, I've not had any trouble with it at all.

This was the post I followed:

http://www.carpe-tdm...p?showtopic=201 (my post was number 75)

Make sure you get the plumbing and electrics right and it'll be OK. Oh, and you'll need to plug the spare vacuum tube as well, a bolt will work, but a clevis pin is better.

Thanks Hammerman.

Needless to say the new pump is still in the box, but I'll get round to it eventually!

I've splashed out on a s/h electric fuel pump Daps (£26) <gulp>

Just need to fit it now...Oh, and I noticed that I have developed a slight coolant leak. I was going to look around for a new/decent s/h one anyway as my one has a fair few crushed bits and the coolant needs changing as well.

This year. Definitely.

Maybe.

Reason I ask is cous Thermo housing tends to bends as only 2 locating bolts for tut lid.  If it is the thermo housing a new o-ring and some seal-ant should learn it.

Will dismantle old un and examine arsey tate if I get a chance.
