Had a look at the yammy service manual and in addition to the flywheel puller they use, they also have a crankshaft protector. Can't see what it looks like tho unsure.gif Possibly a threaded spacer ?

Will I also need to protect my crankshaft ? What with ?

I'm takin' the engine over to a mate's workplace as he's got a puller and a slide hammer so don't wanna waste my journey if I do need the crankshaft protecting.

Never used a crankshaft protector....that don't mean ya don't need wan though. No idea wot it is.

Slide hammer...good.....puller....good.....he might need a smidge of heat and cursing too.

One of mine came off easily enough, the other bent me puller, made me swear and took a while. smile.gif

Okeedokee smile.gif I'll have an idea of what's going on when I've got the puller in me hands. A bit concerned about using it as I don't wanna trash it if at all poss.

Currently designing me a rotor stopperer, had a look at BrianVG's photos smile.gif

the crankshaft protector is just a bit of metal with a dimple in it to protect the threaded tapered nose of the shaft, doesn't really have to screw in either. It stops the puller shaft rolling the first thread over.

I think we will have to make a few of these for the club and send them to all four corners of the country to be held the Carpe trusted member tool storer to be loans out for a nominal deposit. Cost bugger all to make once we have sizes etc.

Whilst we are at it maybe a set of fork seal tools as well could be held in this way. Sort of like a club tools scheme.

High Heat and shock is bad for magnets gentle persuasion with a hide mallet is ok though. Don't bash it too hard or the magnets will cease to be er magnety.

I got one from Thor the King of hammers, hide one side copper the other.

When I took mine off I left the rotor bolt in but undone a couple of turns to protect the end of the crank and alow the rotor to come free but not fly off!!
Mine was a real nightmare and needed the oxyacetaleen on it to get it to shift and when it went it sounded like someone had been shot!!

TIP,
when buying socketry get 1/2 inch drive unless it's 8mm AF or something. 19mm at 3/8ths is just asking to twist it off. I like impact sockets too, nice and strong. Always get six sided as opposed to the more usual crinkley 12 sided jobbies, they grip better.

To hold things you need a rotor holder, seen one somewhere on fleabay.

EDIT:
Mine is like this but got modified with a flat belt to hold bigger things.

No, I was trying to hold a flywheel in a Lister diseasel, in a boat not a motorbike, In this case about a two foot diameter one but a bit of flat drive belt fixed it so I made a few of varying lengths to fit any possible job.
