My 2200km old bike seems to be developing this bad vibe mostly thru the handlebars which in a very short time is making my hands numb....... Is it just me or my bike or are they all a little vibey ?????

they are all a little vibey, but it should not be enough to make your hands numb in a short period of time

try loosening your grip on the bars a little you really only need to rest the hands on

If it has suddenly become apparent, check engine mountings, wheel balance and so on, but if it's always done it, then you should be able to tune it out by altering the bar end weights like Pict says. Mine is a bit vibey, but certainly not hand numbingly so..... good luck

Thanks mate, will give it a try
Thought about that too, has anyone heard of "Hunter Flat Bars" apparently they can reduce the vvibes by up to 70%..............
The vibration dampers at the end of the originals do a good job................
Yep its all stock......... maybe im just a woose ????

try loosening your grip on the bars a little you really only need to rest the hands on

Have tried that too.... even bought new gloves too see if that helped, i am looking at a product called Hunter Flat Bars , has anyone heard of them???? Or maybe a set of foam grips

Not heard of them, but they sound interesting - pricey, though. Web site is well done and they're clearly confident of fitting almost any bike, inc. TDM850 (being US-based they haven't heard of 900's)

Being a twin, the TDM has vibes. So had the GS. But both are not buzzy, they don't numb your hands. If my TDM would have a hand numbing buzz I'd suspect something not enitrely correct (thinking about valves or something like that). That, or you're not used to any motorcycle... and/or are a wuss

I'll be interested to see what results you get from the flat-bars.
I'm having some vibration/grip issues with my right hand lately (it's me, not the bike) I've always preferred thin grips, but I've just fitted foam grips hoping the thicker grips might help with my right thumb tingles (happens on both bikes). I've also filled the bars with expanding foam to help calm the slight buzz (couldn't find the silicon when I went looking).
Now why do Yamaha have those holes in the bars under the kill-switch/starter button. Those who are awake might have realised that the expanding foam expanded through the holes in the handlebars into the switchblock.

Has it improved the vibes? Don't know, I wont be riding it till the button works properly.

well i pumped silicone into my stock handlebars when i replaced them a few years back and it stopped the index piggy on me right hand from going numb !!!

After about an hour of 60mph riding the vibes through the bars really started getting to my hands causing a numbing sensation. So a stop and a ciggie was in order only to find that once back on the bike my hands were crying out for more frequent stop to get some feeling back in them.
I’m on a 900 with standard bars, Suzuki DL650 handguards with the standard bar ends drilled to make them fit. And run on Carbon Can Co exhausts.
The bike has done 1300 miles and apart from its 1st 500mile inspection hasn’t been in for a service yet.
Any ideas on reducing these vibes as I love the TDM and bought it with the intention of touring but wont get too far too quickly till I can dampen these vibes down.

So any news on whether this worked for you?
Wicky – what sort of silicone did you use? And is there any other advice you would offer.

Not having a vibes problem, but I did fit heavier S/S bar ends (Oberon, marked for a TRX) early on, so maybe they helped?
