Just Bought A (stolen) Garmin Zumo Ebay
#1

I can't believe it, I've just bought a Garmin Zumo 400 from eBay, the listing looks genuine and so I bought it. Well it was delivered today and there's no pin number. Why else would the seller send it with no PIN number and it still locked. Damn I feel like a right idiot for buying stolen goods from eBay...argh!
I've contacted the seller who has 100% positive feedback over 300.
I've raised a case with eBay. Should I go to the Police too?

Had a look at his previous sales, he has sold a lot of motorbike gear,
Maybe it was just an oversight on his part.

E bay will not do anything yet ..

You will most likely find that the seller wants the unit returned if he wants to avoid paypal. Dont do this. He will sell it again and catch someone else with it
Tell him that you understand the unit to be not as described and hold the stolen bit as your trump card

Contact seller, give them day or two to reply
No joy then raise with ebay, seller gets 7 days to respond
If still no joy you should be entitled to refund
I had to do it recently on set of textile clothing that was never dispatched, got full refund inside of 5 days
To do: Educate homo sap nav system to operate twisty + grabby things/ get ear plugs
Remember every driver is a deaf myoptic twat who is out to kill you, ALWAYS assume they are going to do THE most f*cking DUMBASS, STUPID manouver possible, at the worst possible moment; get past, and get past quick

Yes indeed I did pay with Paypal and maybe a bit hasty but I've raised a claim already.
The more I look at the ad the more it stinks. I'm looking for a full refund but as I figure it's a stolen unit I don't really want to return it, I figure it should go to the old bill..... but are they going to be interested? hmm.... I guess I'll see what eBay say on the matter.
The seller states that he's selling the unit as he's going travelling...... so I guess he doesn't care about his eBay feedback any more...

- Push seller for full refund (inc postage & return fees), make a note of the model & serial number, and pass that onto Garmin at the same time for them to check their database (most people would register their Nav's one assumes)
- Report to Police & Garmin, and pass seller details on
- Attempt to crack the PIN (only 10000 possible combinations, and as long as the unit doesn't have a 10 times & bust) Bit mind numbing, but something to do during the adverts of Corrie etc

I think you'll find that you will need to return the item, and also provide proof of delivery. So you'll have to return the item via recorded delivery. Ebay won't refund you if you can't prove it's been returned. As soon as it's been signed for by the seller, notify ebay and you'll get yer full costs refunded.
Another possibility is that ebay will ask you to send the item to them instead of the seller.
Don't worry chap, your ass is covered with ebay/paypal !

Maybe he meant "He's selling the unit as he's a traveller! You've been ripped off by a Pikey. Or as we must now refer to them, Caravan Utilising Nomadic Travellers.
I hope you get a full refund.
Publish his Ebay name and details on here to warn others.

It does cost slightly more to send it this way, but its the only totally secure and insured way to get it there. It still needs a signature from the seller,, so he/she cant claim they haven't received it. Recorded delivery isnt worth the paper it written on.

Nearly lost the entire shim collection this way, and as for it being insured.....only if you can prove the purchase price (not as they say value), which luckily the OP can. For my shims I had to dance like a monkey to get them to pay for the goods stolen by their employee(s) despite sending all the requested paperwork...and then resending scans as the originals were "lost".

I know this is a serious subject but I have this thought of you standing at the Parcel counter.

Yup, I lost all faith in 'special delivery' after that episode.

Max, Ebay will pay you if he doesn't

Did the seller give any excuse fer the missin' pin no. ?

Seller emailed a pin number, which didn't work...... claimed it worked ok for him...
I tried over 100 combinations and gave up..... you could do it eventually as there is no limit to the number of times you can try, seems kind of not that secure to me

So it's all been sent back and eBay state a full refund will be given within 3 days of receipt of goods.
Thanks god for that!
So I'm going to make do with my Phone for Sat Nav duties, just bought Co-Pilot Live for Android, so far so good
