Had a good ride on the mk1....... engine developed a misfire when hot, bogging down a bit at revs below 3000rpm....but lovely and crisp when cold.
Apart from that it's all good, and the 4tx gearbox is an improvement on the 3vd one !
Clutch probably needs replacing soon, now the clutch cover is on correctly i can see how little adjustment there is left.

I thought getting ejector seat stickers would be too cliche, so I didn't.... Looks like other people have the same sense of taste of me so I better had get some !
Trimmed up the front end as best as I could w/the naked eye, but Nailed it. Took the redhead for a ride to the Pioneer Saloon, about 45 miles outside of vegas. Town of Goodsprings. This bike never ceases to amaze, even w/over 50k.
Hey fixer, glad you're back on the road also. Sure your gonna have a few tweeks to do, but it sure feels good. Love this engine!
Yes it's a nice engine, spoiled a little by my bad choice of a 17T front sprocket but still perfectly tractable......I think the 900 sounds better (later 850 too for that matter), but in terms of performance the 900 isn't light years ahead of the mk1
The mk1 front end feels a little more planted to me, i don't think it's about the tyres either, but something about the geometry. I could be wrong though

Found wiring faults number 6 and number 7 on my mk1, causing a lot of the poor running I just discovered I had.
Nice thick wire for the ignition switch had been spliced with low power speaker wire !
I think I've got all the gremlins ....but there might still be a fault with the ignitor or coil so I'll try narrowing it down more

Could be the more advanced fork construction of the MkI....
