Here's a route suggested by nanook - looks good

Does look good, but unless you're pushed for time, can I suggest you avoid a section of the A93 and take the B976 to Crathie (Pass the church and the Castle gate, visit the Royal Lochnagar distillery where my grandad used to be manager?), then continue along the B976 on the south side of the Dee at least as far as Aboyne, or take the B993 to Potarch (Old bridge: 2 big stones by the roadside are famous as a test of strength to carry in each hand over the bridge) to rejoin the main road. The A93 is fast, for sure, but the South Deeside road (B976) more rural and twisty and avoids towns/villages. Have a great time, guys!
Later edit: Oops - just twigged that you'll be going clockwise so will need to reverse the above directions! Good views coming over the Cabrach road, and a nice uphill 20% gradient on the Lecht
